*OFFICIAL* UF Class of 2020 Applicant and Decision Thread

We need a gator group chat!!

@khanam UF has a program with the local CC, Gator Engineering @ Santa Fe

In fact, Santa Fe has several programs:

The cancellation charge is $125 if done before May 1’st (for Summer B and Fall Admits)

For Summer B, is there an advantage to paying the $175 dorm contract fee now before the 3/17 deadline?

I was wondering the same thing: is there any reason to submit the $225 fall dorm contract fee now versus waiting until right before 3/17? Do you get priority on choosing your dorm based on how early you submit the $225 contract deposit?

@omalette i agree with that!!! we should use groupme or wechat

@FloridaBound16 i think that’s the case – i think room assignments are based on a rolling first come, first serve basis

Also – comment here !! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-florida/1862291-university-of-florida-class-of-2020-group-chat.html#latest

@Gator88NE Do you know if the cancellation charge of $125 comes out of the $225 already paid as advanced rent payment? Or do they keep the original $225 and charge another $125?

@blue44 I believe it comes out of the $225, it’s not an additional charge. If you cancel after May 1’st, you lose all of it ($225).

Any amount paid in advance over the cancellation charge, if applicable, will be credited to the student’s University account.

What if you decline admission and do not attend UF? Receiving the credit to your student account isn’t helpful–I’d want it credited to my credit card.

Does anyone know admission/acceptance stats for the UF Honors Program?

@gertyberty Lol…I’m sure you’ll get the funds back. Give UF/Residence housing a call at 352-393-2171 and they can give you the details on how it’s likely to work.

I also am confused about honors, apparently you are supposed to get invited or something after admission ? has anyone gotten anything? alsooooo, how does anyone know their selection date? I thought mine was 3/17 but i guess that is the general date for housing contracts are due…

@sunnystategator The honors college application is open to all admitted students. There is no invitation. You need to go onto the honors college website and follow the application instructions.

Comments: Unlike the other schools that we applied, an international student going for a slot in UF would require an extra step of submitting grades to a third party agency for conversion to US grade equivalent. We are indeed happy with the results and look forward to seeing my kid as a Gator during fall.

Congrats @Greensat!

Thanks @SouthFloridaMom9.

@greeny8 I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that you pay a cancellation fee of $25 and get your money back but I’m not 100% sure.
