OFFICIAL* UF Class of 2021 Applicant and Decision Thread

@KiaraBabi24 I’m pretty sure Preview is after the enrollment deadline.

During Preview, you go through advising, and then select your first classes.

@Gator88NE Gotcha. Well I guess I have to settle for a regular tour until I decide.

@Gator88NE Is it possible to start registering for classes before preview? Once you set up your gatorlink, can’t you sign in to ONE.UF to register for classes? Just wondering as I will be in upper division courses and don’t want to be limited in my selection.

No, you have to go through Preview or perhaps wait till the normal add/drop date for classes.

Yeah that’s the thing. I’m undecided. I think I’ll end up going with my dad a separate day in march and checking it out.

Hey all, does UF send an acceptance package in the mail? Or is it just a letter? I’ve been trying to look and see on twitter, etc and all I’m finding are “notice of acceptance” small admit letters and not a large traditional acceptance and informational “package” so to speak.

There is a letter, brochure and tiny bit of fun for the students in the admit package.

Hey y’all, I was recently admitted to the Innovation academy for engineering, which is the major I applied for. However, since submitting my application my intended major has switched to statistics, a major not offered by the innovation academy. Is it possible for me to switch out of the innovation academy in order to pursue the major I actually want to go into, or did I fuck myself over?

@noochilised you have to apply as a transfer student I believe.

What is innovation academy?

You are probably stuck in Innovation Academy. They really need to do a better job of making clear the implications of that program. It works fine for those who know what they’re getting themselves into…others, not so much. I’d try to talk to someone at the school and see if you have any options. It’s rare to be able to switch out of IA.

IA is a special program where you can take classes in the spring and summer on campus, but not in the fall. It’s supposed to give you time to have fall internships, among other things.

I know that I didn’t had the best scores… but something that I’ve noticed is the trend with the EC’s and showing that you are a leader in your school/city/society. Just make sure to describe any impact that you’ve had in every club or activity you’ve done.
Hopefully this helps sure gators next year!
Don’t doubt yourself!!! Plus I think my essay also helped a lot.

Here are my stats to help others for reference.
I was accepted for Fall 2017 at UF!! (OOS)

I also wrote my essay on the many changes that have been thrown my way in life- my mom lives four hours away, I travel to see her frequently and help to take care and provide for my grandmother, and I also had to drive 1.5 hour away to club soccer practice twice a week (obviously by myself) and how I did so to pursue sports collegiately (could run or play soccer) but decided instead to take academic more seriously and do that instead. (Have a better chance of going to a good school for academics. Not sports)

I think I got accepted because of my extreme upward trend in GPA (see below) and my ability to thrive as an athlete, student, and community volunteer as high school progressed. I am thrilled to be accepted here and am going to visit in March!!

First choice: No
Also applied to-
TCU (accepted)
UT (waiting)
UNC (rejected)
Clemson (accepted)
OSU (waiting)
Notre Dame (waiting, big reach but legacy)
UCLA (waiting, big reach)

Major or field of study: Marketing/Business

*** Note on my GPA/Rank-
I also made sure to note that my GPA has a MAJOR upward trend which I mentioned in my app. Freshman year I had no idea how to work the school system or take grades seriously… I made around a 3.6…sophomore year a 3.75… ever since then my GPA has averaged a 4.3 and a 4.4, for my junior year and first semester of senior year respectively. I think that, along with my essay and involvement I sent helped me get in. Go Gators!!

@DankCollege what was your essay about?
