OFFICIAL* UF Class of 2021 Applicant and Decision Thread

Okay I keep trying to post my thing ^^ like that and it won’t let me??

It shows the first three sentences and that’s it

Evamm your test scores are slightly low, but you have VERY nice GPA and activities. Yes I think your mentoring experience will weigh in your favor, especially with your essay emphasizing it. You fall in the range where it could go either way, but hopefully your GPA, ECs and essay will put you over the top. I believe someone said UF weights GPA a bit more than scores, so that’s a plus.

Good luck!

Thank you! I sure hope so as well!

Also, do you know if the intended major on the application has any sway on admission decisions?

@evamm53 No, they do not affect admissions. UF knows that you’ll be switching majors within your first year, and they even make a point about it at orientation.

Forgot to add, I’ve been working a part-time job as a hostess for 2 years^

@rachaelc98 UF loves work experience. Your UF weighted GPA would be less than your weighted GPA, but I’m sure it’s still in the middle 50% range of admitted students.

UGA has a rather small engineering program. They recently added civil engineering (first degree awarded was in 2015, with a total of 17 degrees awarded in 2016). Just something to consider, with everything else…

@Trisherella my first pick is Rollins!

anyone apply for lombardi/stamps?

So the site won’t allow me to post my full version of the analysis everyone else is posting… but here is my condensed version:
OOS- Texas
Major: Marketing
3.8 UW/ 3.95 W GPA
34/285 class rank
28 ACT
have 5-6 APs taken
UF is a high priority school for me, I recently got rejected from UNC - chapel hill, also applied to Clemson, Ohio state, Notre Dame, (legacy at ND, dream school) UCLA (another dream) UT- Austin, and Texas Christian as my backup.
Spanish club president, varsity XC/Track & 4 year varsity soccer player and team Captain, heritage society ambassador and speaker, student council executive member & community service president, homecoming court queen, school spirit club president and founder. Have held two jobs ever since I was able, balancing with a school and sports… 200+ volunteer hours helping children with juvenile diabetes at summer camps annually… interested in chances despite mediocre scores and also interested in how much OOS affects me.

Our decision comes soon, excited to hear back. Goodluck All

TalleyFenn, my niece went to Rollins and loved it. Winter Park is beautiful. She also has a great job now, lol! (she majored in business)

Nduclaunc, I think you’ve got a decent shot at Clemson. Notre Dame is going to be tough unless you’re a recruited athlete, or something. I think you could get into Ohio State. Probably not UCLA. You’ve got a decent shot at UT Austin. You’re iffy for UF.

I think you’ll have some decent choices in the end! Good luck.

Trisherella, thank you for your feedback and response!! I agree UCLA is a long shot and I am hoping to god it works out… similar to UF… and Notre Dame is nearly a 0% chance which I’m aware of, hoping my intense passion for the school showed through in my essays and that my legacy status plays a BIG role. However, I hope you’re wrong and that my hope works out!!! Fat chance lol. Thank you nonetheless. Anyone else have feedback for me? I’d appreciate.

Comments:

BSpwr, I think you look like a really strong candidate. I would definitely admit you!

Does anyone else have feedback for me? I’d appreciate. also wondering the ratio of IS to OOS admits / attendees for UF if anyone knows… decision day is coming upon us!!

@nduclaunc The % of in-state students admitted vs OOS?

Fall 2015 Undergraduate Student Residence :

87% In-state Students
8% OOS students
4% Foreign Countries

The acceptance rate is about the same for in-state and OOS students (maybe a few % points less for OOS students).
