For those of us who live here, who really want to get in, the answer is YES, Illinois is a really great school. Please do your homework. And hooks means are you first generation in school or legacy or have special circumstances or adversity that you have overcome. Being from a major US trading partner probably helps you.

Yeah thanks for telling me what hooks are.
I did my research now. I’m pretty proud to have been accepted. 26 Nobel prizes, 20 Pulitzer prizes, the invention of the IC, transistor, etc.

Reflection
Strengths: GPA, Course Load (for my school), In State Redsident?
Weaknesses: ACT, EC’s, APs
General Comments: As you can see, even people with low ACT scores and only a few AP classes can still be admitted to a great college. I don’t know how I got in to be honest. This has been my dream college since freshman year. If I had any advice to give, it would be: Take school seriously, but do not obsess over it. Find EC’s that are right for you, maintain a strong GPA and take some honor/AP courses if possible. If you get a low ACT score, do not stress out if all other criteria are met. Retake it a few more times; if you still are not happy with the score you got, don’t fret; all of the other factors will play their role. Congrats to everyone who got accepted! Good luck to anyone in the future waiting to apply!

I don’t know how you didn’t get into DGS at least. I applied the around early September; I don’t know if they look at applications early or not. My intended major was Compsci, but obviously my ACT was way to low for an engineering major. I thought my essays were okay. But I don’t know. Your major might of been really competitive, or you might have applied a little later than expected. I hope you get in though! I’m just terrible at standardized tests. I’ve gotten 2 21’s, a 22, and a 23. So yeah, I don’t understand. Haha.
