@drusba Ok cool, that’s good to know. ^^ I still have some questions though - like how come some people were denied from their 1st choice major but got into undeclared? Instead of being offered one major, I was offered a list of majors including undeclared (a lot of them had to do with business but just weren’t in the business school). Does UIUC just have different offers for each person?
Also is being deferred from BUS better than being offered an alternate major?

@urmahgurd and @fallpsat : Congratulations to both of you.

My Son’s first choice was BME and alternate Aerospace. He got Aerospace. His stats are pretty comparable to @urmahgurd.

The question is, can he still get into BME given that there would be bunch of seats still kept open for RD. What would be the best course of action. His primary interest is Computational and Systems Biology. He wants to have the option open and not be shut out from the get go.

Im applying regular for Computer Engineering and Im really getting a little scared by some of these decisions. @Aendos was denied Engineering with a 33 ACT and 4.2 W GPA? How is that possible (unless he/she is hiding something from us)? Personally I have a 3.88 UW GPA and a 31 ACT (32 Superscore).

Accepted! Applied for Biomedical Engineering and I got into my alternate, which was Aerospace Engineering. ACT 32. GPA 3.58. Great extracirculars and a very strong upward trend.
Anyone know if it’s possible to be reconsidered for the BME program? I got a 33 on the October ACT, but that score wasn’t able to get to UIUC in time. My first MP grades were very good as well. Anyone know if this is possible?

Accepted to College of Engineering for Computer Science. I got a 33 on the ACT but have a 3.6 unweighted GPA, 3.8 weighted. (Yeah, I have no idea how I got in). Those applying regular decision or those who were deferred, don’t give up hope! :)

My daughter was accepted into her alternate choice which is chemical engineering. First choice was bioengineering. Her stats are weighted GPA: 4.27, unweighted GPA: 3.92, class rank: 15/557, ACT: 31 (32 super score) lots of EC’s including leadership positions and lots of community service hours. Although she loves UIUC, she probably won’t go here now that she didn’t get her first choice. She really wants to study biomedical/bioengineering in college.

Accepted Chem Eng in CLAS, which is also my first choice
SAT 2320 (760CR 780M 780W); SAT II Math Level 2 800, Chem 800, US His 790
ACT 35
(submitted all)
GPA 4.0, wGPA 4.5
Rank 5 out of 365 (top <2%)
UIUC is my third choice after UCB and Stanford for Chem Eng

D was accepted to School of Ag/Natural Resources & Environmental Science
OOS
4.0 W (all honors and AP)
29 ACT
Very good essay
Good ECs
Decorated athlete

Hublidoks, LadyHam, and Stevee: Dont give up hope! My DS was originally turned downed for BME, and accepted into general engineering. April of his senior year, he got an email telling him he was accepted into BME, and does he want to switch?

He accepted. He is now a senior, and received his first job offer ( A REALLY GOOD ONE!!) in October of his senior year!!!

“1. What should we expect to receive in the mail other than just a letter of admission for uiuc?”

You will be getting an acceptance letter and housing information.

“2. What are the nicest dorms for next year in terms of spaciousness and newness?”

Most who attend Illinois will tell you that “nicest dorms” is an oxymoron. There is actually one new one (only a few years old and opened in phases in last three years) that is very nice, Nugent Hall. (They are now demolishing another older dorm so they can construct another new one in the same Inkenberry Commons area as Nugent. Otherwise, none is younger than about 40 years and most older than that. They are adequate but not by any stretch of the imagination luxorious. Rooms in the dorms in that Ikenberry area (west side of campus) also known as the six-pack and some other surrounding dorms, have somewhat (but not much) larger rooms than the dorms on the east side of campus, but don’t hold out hope for a “spacious” room.
