For discussions.

Did anyone else’s essay much into one big paragraph when you pasted it into the app? In the text box it looks fine but on the review page it looks like one big paragraph…

Yeah. I emailed them, and they said don’t worry about formatting.

Ah okay thank you so much :)

If I submitted my application before November 1st (the priority application deadline), but they have yet to receive my application fee waiver, would my application still be considered as priority? Please someone let me know because I am genuinely freaking out here.

Call them?

Man, February 13th just can’t come fast enough haha.

Thank you so much! I appreciate it very much.
Turns out that my counselor did submit the fee waiver, but they have yet to approve it which is why it is labeled as incomplete.

I’m applying for UIUC too. I’m an international student and I don’t have any advanced placements but my high school record is pretty good. Do you think it’s okay not to give any APs?

Depends for what major. To be a competitive applicant for tough areas like Engineering, you definitely need APs.

APs are not required. Your HS courses taken are compared to the most advanced courses that your school offers. If you’ve taken a good number of those courses, that is looked upon favorably. No one is penalized for not having AP courses, if their HS doesn’t offer them.

Hi All:

I’m applying for Eng-CS although I doubt i’ll get in, at least what are my shots for DGS?

3.2 UW GPA
11 AP Courses, 3 or higher on all the ap tests (include calc, apush, ap lang, ap bio, ap chem, apes and several in progress)
2310 SAT 790M 720R 800W
800 on math SAT II and 680 on Physics
School does not rank
Lots of good extracurriculars imo:

local finalist in the google science fair along with success in multiple local programming competitions/science fairs
Board Member for high school robotics club, have competed at national/international level
4 time varsity letterwinner in tennis and competing at the state championships for the second time this year
Competed in TSA at local/national level
Member of National Honor Society
over 200 hours of community service during high school working with an Indian nonprofit organization

Thoughts?

I think you have a really good chance for DGS. Not sure about Eng-CS because of your low GPA.

This is a really stupid question but how do you select your major on the application?

Go to the major section

I did, and it says to select your major but there isn’t anything I can click on/check.

nagintapls-that’s exactly what I was thinking, although I think the only thing that may help me out with cs is that my general trend in regards to extracurricular activites, jobs in the past (intern at microsoft + the ones i mentioned!) and the competitions i’ve competed in along with my essays can hopefully help the admissions directors see my passion for the field, although my GPA will really hold me back. Can i consider UIUC a safety at least in regards to DGS?

yeah

So is there an FB group for UIUC Class of 2019?
