***OFFICIAL UIUC CLASS OF 2021 ADMISSIONS THREAD****

@CaveMom Congrats!

@changjin9792 and other deferred students… Don’t get discouraged. It’s far from over for you. If you are truly interested in attending UIUC, send your counselor (at UIUC) a letter of intent aka continuous interest, so they know you are still a viable candidate. According to other threads, it should up your chances significantly. Good luck!

Deferred from Engineering CS. 36 ACT, around 3.7ish unweighted with 12 AP classes (magnet school has grade deflation), good CS ECs/other ECs. Really sad :frowning:

Where do you see if they were accepted as a James Scholar?

Admitted but to ACES, probably due to average stats. My first choice was mechanical engineering and my second choice was agricultural engineering. I was admitted to ACES but instead of being admitted to agricultural engineering, I was admitted to Technical Systems Management, which I didn’t even know about and didn’t even apply there. I don’t know why this happened.

@tikinurseC under admitted student checklist, there is a grey box called Honors. It is listed as an “honor”.

Deferred Mechanical Engineering
White Male, OOS
UW GPA 4.0
5 AP’s
ACT: 33C, 34E 35M 33R 30S
780 Math 2
Decent EC’s, essay

Kinda bummed. Don’t really want to go here, but its such a good engineering school that I had to apply. Looking at the others getting deferred with such high stats, however, makes me feel a bit better about my deference. Good luck to all in the Regular Decision!

Accepted Computer Science! In-State

Mexican Female
GPA: 3.8 UW/ 4.56 Weighted
ACT: 28, 29 superscore
Classes: 7 AP classes (AP CS, US Gov, Microeconomics, Calc BC, Physics I, APUSH, Physics C: Mechanics & Electricity/Magnetism), others are honors
ECs: student council VP all 4 years, member of principal & superintendent advisory board, Spanish honor society, national honor society, model un, youth and gov & student ambassador.

** worked really hard on my essay bc my act score wasn’t the best **
Congrats to everyone who got in!!

Accepted to Computer Engineering (only major applied), invited to James Scholar program
New SAT 1550 International
National AP Scholar

I am wondering how hard it is to get into computer science/engineering this year. Surprised that people with high stats got deferred. Maybe UIUC went into more holistic review and gauged applicants’ interest?

Accepted Materials Science and Engineering!
ACT: 34
GPA: 3.95
Subject tests: Math 800 Chem 790
Decent ECs
OOS

50 days to go for Regular Decision results.

** LET THE COUNTDOWN BEGIN! **

Accepted Business Unassigned!
New SAT: 1420; 700 Math, 720 R/W, 24/24 Essay
Old SAT: 2020; 710 Math, 700 Writing, 610 Writing (lol)
GPA: ~4.27 (GPA system changed a lot at my school, but lowest grades received were a 3 A-'s throughout high school)
EC’s were decent, almost all have long term commitment and/or leadership
Essay was okay.

I thought I was in-state (I go to an international school, but next year family moving back to IL), but as of right now I’m considered OOS I believe.

Accepted chemical engineering, 35 ACT, instate, honors and $8,000 total scholarship (2,000 per year)

Accepted Computer engineering, international candidate and 33 ACT, LIT

Accepted into Aerospace Engineering + James Scholar
Submitted: 10/31
Checklist Complete: 11/5
GPA: 4.00/4.83
ACT: 35 (superscore 36)
New SAT: 1580 (Math 800)
Subject Tests: Math 2 and Physics (800)
State: OOS (Colorado)

Congrats to everyone who got in! Still have fingers crossed for merit scholarships.

Does UIUC superscore the ACT? I thought they don’t but I see so many people reporting it, I am now not sure.

Accepted. LAS. 3.7/1400/31. I actually got honors! Really really happy.

Did anyone else get into engineering mechanics major??

Yep they do. I even asked them during my college visit.
