***OFFICIAL UIUC CLASS OF 2021 ADMISSIONS THREAD****

@sunny_01 I’m just about done with my first semester so I’ll try to sum up some of my experiences. When I applied for UIUC I was unaware of the difficulty of admissions. I just applied because it was my state school and it was highly ranked in CS but I didn’t give it too much thought. Long story short, it came down to Georgia Tech, U Mich, and UIUC. I chose UIUC after a lot of research and careful consideration. Now having been on campus for a semester, I can understand why the program is ranked so highly. I’m very glad I chose UIUC because I’ve come to learn how strong our industry reputation in CS is and how many grads go on to work at great companies or start one of their own. The academics are strong as you would expect, but I’ve only taken two entry-level CS classes so I can’t really elaborate on that. I think the best part is the other students. I’ve found a lot of passionate and intelligent students throughout my first semester. Even though some of the students are getting really impressive internships or doing interesting research within their first month on campus, they’re still very down-to-earth people who you can really learn a lot from. For a program of it’s caliber, the students are quite collaborative and helpful rather than the cutthroat and independent nature you might expect from programs of the likes. There are a lot of great resources to take advantage of here as an engineer and plenty of ways to guarantee you are successful if you work for it.

@infiniteCircle We are OOS. My S applied for Mechanical Eng. I know from University website that all EA candidates will be automatically considered for merit scholarship. I understand you are IS student, but was wondering if you’ve heard or know at what point will we be notified on the merits. Thank you

I’m pretty sure the scholarships all came with the decision, but that was last year when they only had one admissions period so I don’t know how they’ll handle it with EA. @educationfan

@infiniteCircle great inside info, thanks and very much appreciated!

Thanks for the info @infiniteCircle !!! 9 days away from decisions… getting really nervous

No problem @sunny_01 and good luck @northshoreguy

At what time will the decisions come out?
Thanks in advance

Based on ehomedi information, decisions will come out on December 16th at 4pm CDT for EA

Why is this thread so inactive? I am an Indian student who applied Without Aid and can’t wait for the results to come out as soon as they can… Any other Indians here?

Also, if I have a SAT OLD MATH score of 800 but a poor CR+W score and am applying to Computer Science in the College of Engineering… Is it okay? I compensated that by being 1st in my class of 625 with a 99.9th Percentile and a 117 TOEFL. I am so nervous!

@vtanboy29 it’s a reach but you never know!

Do I have any chances for scholarships too?
