Although I’m happy to have been accepted to the Division of General Studies, I’m also disappointed with my decision. U of I’s business school was my top choice and I thought I had a good shot at getting in. Not getting into the business school may be a deal-breaker for me…Congrats to all those accepted!

ACCEPTED : (Computer Science)
SAT: 720M 750CR 720W
SAT II : 800Phy 800M II
My school does not report Gpa. But 90% ish overall.
Senior Year (12th Standard) Subjects : English, Physics, Chemistry, Graphic Design
Academic Achievements : A whole bunch of Olympiads. NSO, NCO, ANCQ…get the idea…
EC’s: Not the usual kind. But a lot of script-writing, Prop-making (basically involved in making big school events successful)
Essays: Not bad. Mainly recycled from the ones I wrote for other universities.

Country : India

@hereicome2013,tonya, JRswish - LOL!! You guys really missed me didn’t you??!!

I was sleeping, was tired after a long day yesterday & FIFA wasn’t enough to keep me up at night!! :p

And I’ve got no problem with a new thread!! Though don;t understand the need of one!! haha!

–Anyway Congrats to all those who got in!!
–For all those wait listed, if UIUC is your dream school - then write a mail confirming that UIUC is your top choice & submit anything that might help your app!! All the best for that!
– For those rejected, especially @TheNexus - admissions can be weird, don’t take it to heart - I’m sure you have a lot of schools on your list that you’ll be accepted to. And look at it this way, if the adcom thought you won’t fit in the school - maybe it’s a good thing cause you wouldn’t have liked it there then! :)

And for all those wondering whether I got in, Yes I did!! :D

Stats, etc in the other thread!! :p

Decision: Accepted (College of Liberal Arts & Sciences - Mathematics and Computer Science major)

Reflection

 • Strengths: GPA, extracurriculars, essay
 • Weaknesses: SAT
 • Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I really put my heart into my essays and explained my circumstances and achievements. This, plus my GPA, decent SAT score, and intense senior workload, is most likely why I was accepted.

General Comments: I am surprised with such a good outcome, since I was actually expecting to get rejected or at least waitlisted because I thought my SAT score was not good enough. But I’m just glad and thankful I got in…

@rishav17: Congratulations! We were about to send the search party out for you.

Got deferred back in December. Accepted but not into my first choice major of engineering. Instead I was offered Physics, math, comp sci and math, statistics and comp sci, agricultural engineering, technical management, etc.
