Official UMD Transfer Thread

My last name starts with S, so no. They might be doing it based on when you applied because I applied pretty early in late January.

I applied in early January :(

I applied the day before the deadline. Perhaps they are just getting rid of everybody who didn’t satisfy CORE requirements, then moving on to looking at applications by send date.

This is really not cool -_-

Tell me about it.

Also, I’ve fulfilled most (if not all) of the GenEd requirements and I still don’t know. Also, doing MTAP and have a 4.0 CC GPA.

I applied last semester but didn’t have a math class so I took one this sem and reapplied the same day I got denied. I also kept veryyy close contact with one of the Admission people. I’m not coming from a MD CC so I’m worried as hell all you guys will get in and take my place! haha

my lady was accepted today. anyone else hear back?

my friend and i were there yesterday and they told us everything is normal and they’re gonna send out letters NEXT WEEK, but my friend just told me she got the letter today!
currently i’m a mc student in electrical engineering, 4.0 gpa, non-mtap, and i’ll be transferring with ~40 credits by summer and i have 20 completed credits now. i’m taking physics 1 and calc 2 now during spring (15 credits total) but i’m done with the rest of my gateway courses. i still get the “we are unable to offer you a decision” message :S
any1?!

btw, my friend is biology major with all gateways done i guess

Wow… lots of MC students. I’ve been talking with some people on campus today and those who didn’t get in said it was mainly because they didn’t have pre-reqs, EN101 most commonly. I would wait for tomorrow (I know it’s hard!) and then call and ask what’s going on with your application.
I think that as long as you have these pre-reqs done you should be fine. If I’m not mistaken, one poster said he got in with a 2.7 GPA so I guess GPA doesn’t play as important of a role as pre-reqs.
Good luck everybody who is still waiting!

I don’t have English 101 and keep thinking that UMD made a mistake in admitting me lol, even though I was admitted when I applied in HS.

Anyone admitted to Smith B school? Please share your stat

one my friends (civil engineering) has like 55+ credits with 3.x gpa and they told him he still has to wait for his en102 (he is taking it now)!
anyway, has anyone heard anything about financial aid for 2011-12?

I was accepted with a 3.69 from a south jersey CC with 44 credits.
Major: Computer science

I was accepted today from Michigan State University with 45 credits completed and 61 after this semester. I currently have a 3.52 Gpa in Hospitality Business here at MSU. I was admitted into Letters and Sciences at UMD, but i’m looking to be an internal transfer into The Smith School of Business.

has anyone been notified of financial aid status or does know when it will be released?

My finaid file hasn’t been completed yet but the website says transfer financial aid status will start to be released online April 1st on a rolling basis.

Accepted yesterday to College of Computer Science

International, CCC, 60 completed quarter hours

College GPA: 3.83
HS GPA: None, GED
SAT: 2100
EC’s: 1 year of tutoring

this is my decision:

“Thank you for your application for admission to the University of Maryland. After a careful review of your academic record, the Admission Committee has decided to postpone a decision on your application until we receive your current semester’s grades. We feel it is necessary to evaluate these grades in order to assess fully your academic strengths and abilities. Please request that the registrar of your present college or university forward your current grades to us as soon as they become available. These grades must be final and posted to an official transcript. We look forward to receiving your updated information.”

What do you guys think? will I be accepted if I get decent grades?
my Stats:
2.78 gpa
72 credits
92 credits after this semester.
Currently enrolled at UMES
I completed all my gateway courses they required and yet i still have to wait for my grades?
What do you guys think is my chance. BE Honest i can take it!!!

@smhamad
if i were you i would go down there and talk to them directly, because if you have all the gateway courses there is not need for them to wait. what’s your major btw? if your major is lep (e.g. engineering) i think your gpa is a little low :/

has anyone (engineering major) heard anything yet? most of my friends at mc (non-engineering, mostly biology) got admitted last week
