Official UMD Transfer Thread

I was admitted last week to aerospace engineering. Im from a VA comm. college.

@fardad my major is accounting. Yeah its low for an LEP major so Im crossing my fingers.

So anxious…called them this week and they told me I should hear back by this week or early next week. I still get the unable to show your decision message. Anyone else in my shoes? I applied for sophomore fall 2011.

How many of us are still waiting on a decision? Called yesterday and all the rep could tell me is that they released transfer decisions last week and she is not sure why I am still in review. Anxiously waiting here, and wondering why they didn’t release all admission decision at the same time.

@faceboy For real dude what the heck is going on? What are your stats and when did you apply? How many credits do you have?

You’re not alone. I still haven’t gotten my decision yet. It’s honestly driving me crazy. I’ve been checking everyday since April 1st.

Applied English major. sub-2.0 JHU Freshman GPA (Biomedical Engineering). 4.0 CC GPA (General Studies). Entered the MTAP program last semester. Brother got B.A. at UMD. Dad got PhD at UMD.

Still no notice. My life blows.

Applied to the smith school at the end of feb. Got accepted to umcp in march. I’m still waiting to hear bk from the smith business school.

@Yankee 13, got a 3.2GPA and will have 55 credits at the end of this semester. Wondering what the hold up is, I thought they were going to release all results at the same time.

cuttievivenne what’s your stats?

@faceboy. My gpa- 3.78 with 47 credits when I applied. From Montgomery cc but not in MTAP. Know a friend she got 3.6 and was accepted in mid march. She applied in feb

@Faceboy. Did u apply as a in state student ?

Yes I am in state…

Could someone fill me in on a weird situation?

So I’ve been reading other people’s posts and it seems as if getting Gen. Ed’s out of the way seems to be a big thing for transfers getting into UMD. I haven’t taken any English Comp courses yet but I have taken a few Eng. Lit. courses in college and got a 5 on the AP Eng. Lit. exam in high school.

I transferred once from University of Maryland- Baltimore County (3.825 GPA) to Boston University (2.9 GPA) so I’m trying to get in as a junior. I am also in AFROTC which I have mentioned in my essays as my career goals (to be an Air Force officer). I also explained how my financial situation lead me to transfer from Boston. I am also an in-state resident.

how do my chances seem? I applied around 3/31.

bump.

also, does anyone know how easy it would be to find walking distance housing mid-June?

I applied by the priority deadline but i think the last of my SAT scores and transcripts were received in April. I keep checking and it says the admission decision isn’t finished yet. I had a 3.71 GPA in high school, 1670 SAT, a few EC like tutoring, art, modeling, college bound, etc. I completed 16hrs and unfortunately had to take a semester off. I had all As and Bs and took honors college courses. I completed my Eng and math general credits.

What are my chances of getting in for Fall 2011?

In my opinion it could go either way. Since you only have 16 credits, they will consider your SAT scores which are low for UMD. Good luck

Sent from my DROID2 using CC App

just got a rejection letter from Georgetown-MBS so i’m waiting on Smith school.
i’m from MC no MTAP program.
GPA is 3.73, 49 credits with MC with military experience (additional 10credits).
i am crossing my fingers now.

Waiting on a decision as well…

So do admissions decisions come out in mid-June or the beginning of July? I just called the admissions office and they said they’re sending them out the first week of July. Hopefully she confused the months b/c I don’t think I can bear another month. ■■■.

yea i called about 2 weeks ago and they told me the same thing, first week of july. There must be a lot of applicants. I applied last year as a transfer as well and notifications were sent i think june 18. I hope this year i’ll get in
