**Decision: Accepted! **

Stats:[ list]
[] SAT Verbal: 690
[] SAT Math: 670
[] SAT Writing: 740
[] SAT Total: 2100
[] SAT II: Didn’t submit. They were terrible: 670 US History, 650 Math 1
[] ACT: N/A
[] AP/IB taken/scores: I’m going to graduate with 10 APs at 2 college courses. On the 5 APs I have already taken, I scored all 4s
[] GPA weighted: Way above a 4.0, I don’t ever see my weighted GPA
[] GPA unweighted: 3.8
[] Rank or % estimate: Top 10%, but just barely

[/list]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: I truly think they were witty and illustrated who I am as a person. They were funny, but pretty insightful
[] Teacher Recs: Good
[] Counselor Rec: Really excellent, I’m very close with my counselor
[] Hook (if any): My ECs are very good, and I definitely come across (resume-wise) as a strong leader. I applied to the Journalism & Mass Communication school, and I think they saw my passion in human rights and the way I wrote my essays and felt I was a good match for the school

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: NY
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[] Legacy Yes/No: No
[] Recruited Yes/No: No
[] Important ECs: I am a leader in over 4 clubs, founded two of these clubs, work for an important organization, am a dedicated athlete, attended various prestigious summer programs. Wow, that came across as super snotty. I think my ECs are really why I got in, though.
[] Deferred Yes/No: No, accepted

[/ul]Other Factors: I truly feel that I got in because of my ECs, the fact that my SATs weren’t terrible, and my essays. I know everyone is probably looking at my scores and going “What the heck! How did that dummy get in?” but I think the fact that my application showed strong interest in my major was a strong acceptance factor. Also, my essays were pretty entertaining.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: I’m so surprised I was accepted! YAY! Can’t wait to go visit campus (I haven’t been yet!) and hopefully meet some of you guys. Woo go Tar Heels! :)

Good luck to all who were Deferred!! You should really send UNC a letter updating them on your senior year. I did that in early January, as I received a fairly prestigious scholarship, and I think it really helped me be accepted. Best of luck!!! :)
