General Comments/Congratulations/etc: My counselor called admissions and the SAT Math was what killed it. I know OoS is a blood bath and frankly, I’m honored just to be waitlisted. My dad taught at UNC for a while so it’ll be hard to get rid of my Tarheel pride. While I’m disappointed at having to wait longer, I hold nothing against UNC and I’m happy because if all else fails, I could be a Terp and get just as solid an education in journalism.

Teacher Recs: Very good.
Counselor Rec: I figure pretty good as well
Hook (if any): I think I’ve been the most active in terms of artistic achievement in my school. I’ve been in two bands, helped start an improv club, been in the Acappella group, written and directed student films, directed a student play, and acted as assistant director for my schools theatre for 5 years. (it may not seem much to most people, but in a small community focused mostly on athleticism I find it quite an accomplishment). I also feel that i’m a very strong writer and thinker.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: I don’t feel that I was the right fit for the school. I know UNC is a great instution, and if I had ended up going I feel I would have gotten really invovled with their English department, but I’m not sure if I clicked with the image. I’m fine with it though.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc:
I’m SO EXCITED. Woke up this morning and found the “open in a pop-up window” and crossed my fingers like crazy. Congratulations to everyone who got in - especially those who were deferred from EA. Must be such a triumph :)

They said it was close to impossible. But my son did it! he was accepted. Being from NJ, getting into Chapel Hill, WOW!. This was his “reach” school and we all worked hard and for his #1 choice school. I truly believe that things happen for a reason!

@njprouddad, congratulations to your son. I was told the same thing - UNC is near Ivy-hard-to-get-in for out of state students. So exciting when you can beat the odds :)

FOR DEFEREES IF accepted, reasons why you think so, actions you took after being deferred, etc…: I think my SAT/ACT scores were too low; I sent a note to the admin rep for our area explaining how I found my “fit” in Carolina, thanking her for being my advocate and asking what additional information I could send her to improve my app. Never heard back from her. Also reported heavily-loaded senior year grades (all A and A+)
