you are apply as a sophomore as well? So you don’t have to submit the SAT?

After weeks of calling and trying to settle things, my application is finally complete…phew.

Oh yes. I apply as sophomore. I will earn about 100 credits at the end of this semester…

Transferring From: Top 40 liberal arts college
Currently a sophomore (applying for junior transfer)
College GPA: 3.87

SAT: 1300 composite (not that I think that matters)
HS GPA: 3.63 UW

It’s a crapshoot at this point. Plenty of people have been accepted with ~3.3s and denied with ~3.9s in the past. It’s completely up to the discretion of the admissions to decide now. Your stats are competitive. Do you have any ECs? That’s the only thing your noticeable lacking…

^ what schools did these people w/ 3.9s who got rejected come from? I definitely think admissions looks at the academic rep of your current school. If these people went to a community college or a university that is not very recognized, I can believe that this happened… but ‘transferneow’ said he goes to a top 40 school. I would be very shocked if they rejected someone who already goes to a pretty good school.

Look at last year’s and the year’s before UNC admission thread. Plenty of stuff in there. Some of the lower gpa students actually came from community colleges. They look at other stuff other than just your gpa and number of credits taken.

Problem solved, they allowed me to be evaluated as a junior transfer, thank you so much UNC :P

At least I still got one shot!

Good luck to everyone!!!

Tperr- because you are applying after just 1 year in college, they will look mostly at your HS grades/SAT scores. Usually, if you could not get in after HS, you get denied applying for soph. year. However, you have done very well in college, which will look good. You have a descent shot. If you get rejected, I’d apply next year and you will get in (given you keep your grades up). Hope this helps.

Based on my stats what are my chances

I mean ur guess is as good as mine. I would say you have a descent shot…

My older brother took the SAT’s twice in high school when it was based on the 1600 point scale. The first time he took it he got a 1350 (i think) and a 1510 his second time, but he did poorly in school, due to a lack of caring really.

He applied to UNCG and went there. After his freshman year, the 1510 SAT and a 4.0 they rejected him. He maintained a 4.0 for another year at UNCG and they accepted him. Never once did any extracurriculars or anything. In-state.

If you apply for sophomore transfer (only after 1 semester of college), they take into account your High School record (heavily). Therefore, HS grades would matter most (way more than just straight As for one semester of college). I know this because I have talked to admissions directors about this. If you could not have gotten in as a first year, then CHANCES are you can’t get in as a sophomore. However, if you were borderline and rejected, then good grades frosh year might admit you. Apply for junior transfer…and they will pretty much only look at college performance.

Still no word as to the official date of notification??

third friday of april. Just happens to be right before finals :(. Feeling less and less confident every day.

was this confirmed?

I’m curious whether this is the official date as well; I know in the past it’s been the third Friday in April, but from what I’ve seen “officially” it just says ‘mid-April’. I hope it’s earlier than the 20th!

No but it is a trend that has followed for the past two years. Yes I really need to be sooner for my sanity’s sake.
