Official UNC-Chapel Hill Fall 2012 Transfer Thread

Hi guys! I’m also an out of state transfer coming from Washington State. I will not be able to make it next week, but it would be awesome if could all meet before ‘welcome week’ or create a Facebook group. At the moment, I’m waiting for other decisions, so I have not finalized whether or not I’ll end up at UNC. So far, yes. I hope we can all connect.

What exactly is it that is next week? I thought the transfer orientations were in June, July, and August (and we could choose to attend any one of them).

“We look forward to meeting you in person at our Welcome Reception on Friday May 4th from 4:30 to 6:30 at Concourse C of the Loudermilk Center for Excellence.” I received this in an email about Academic Advising.

Does anybody know how UNC grants work? Are they only for 4 semesters. Some schools limit their grants to 4 semesters for transfer students (based on what I’ve heard).

Also, is there any way to waive the health insurance cost, since I am still under my parents insurance?

Oh haha, thanks. That meeting is not mandatory, correct?

RedWings532: I’m not sure about grants =/

I don’t think the meeting is mandatory. Either way, I can’t make it.

@UNChamp - No worries, thanks anyways!

Btw, does anyone have any information regarding scholarships for transfer students?

@UNC Champ, Hello I am also from WA state, Seattle. from Bellevue College? What school u transfer from? What is your major? Nice to know that someone from WA state!

Anyone out of state got the decision from mail yet?

Has anyone registered for classes yet?

Catherine1205: Really? That’s awesome!!! I’m actually from the Tri-Cities… I’m sure you know where that’s at. I can’t wait to meet you =)

What’s suppose to arrive in the mail?

Hey guys congrats on who made it in. I was accepted for junior year transfer I have my transfer credit evaluation form but I am not quite sure how to read it exactly. For example:

One of my classes reads:

Transfer term: Fall 2012
Incoming Class: Span 1001
Units Taken: 3
Grade Input: A
Status: Posted
Equilavant Course: Span 101
Units: 0
Grade: TR

I’m not sure what this means because under course history it says it transfered but “0” units. Anyone help? Thanks guys.

How do you check which courses transferred? I haven’t made my deposit, so I wonder if thats why…

Most likely, 13/15 classes transfered after three semesers if you’re curious. Does anyone know the answer to my question? Thanks

I didn’t receive credit for 1102, and when I e-mail them, they said that I did. But it is not on my evaluation sheet. I’m not sure what to do.

Also is anyone worried about transfer shock? (i.e drop in grades). People are telling me that it is inevitable. I don’t want my GPA to go down.

This is my third time transferring, so I’m not too worried. I personally believe it all depends on the student. If you are an active student you’ll so fine, and I don’t think the GPA part will hurt you too much.

I just dont understand how it says my class transfered by it says I get 0 units from the class

When i transfered the first time i got higher grades lol

UNChamp and somebeast - from what school to what school did you guys transfer to?

And also, how do you adjust quickly? I’m from a CC. How do I keep my high GPA?

I sent a deposit, sent a housing contract, got my credit evaluations and yet I cant enroll in classes, every time i try on onyen i get this message," You do not have access to enrollment at this time. " why is this happening? HELP
