I applied at the beginning of February. Should I be concerned if I have no received my myunc info?

If I am in junior standing do I still need to send my HS transcripts? Its been so long since I have been in HS and I completely missed that on that app.

I would call. It only took a day for me to receive my log in information and it took RedWings a little bit over 2 days.

@Transfer

HS transcripts are required to be sent in.

Small margin? I’m a little worried about this too. My essay is about 830 words. Do you think that’s ok or no?

When you print preview the CA, the directions state for a personal statement of 250-500words. You’ll find people saying it’s okay if you go over but I would try to stick to the word limit. The directions are in place for a reason and going over the word limit is essentially not following directions.

@ pencilinablender, no worries! Sorry if my reply seemed defensive.

@abcde, on the unc website’s transfer blog, a few people have asked ‘Julie’ if their essays are okay as ~600 words. She said that it’s fine, but try not to be excessive.

They ask for your essay to be short (500 words) for a reason. They want to see how smart you are - how convincing you can be with only 500 words. Mine is about 515 and I’m not worried about it. I’d say just under 600 words would be pushing it, but if you absolutely could not decrease it, it’s fine. With that said, 830 words seems way over the limit… they want a concise essay that gets to the point. Maybe instead of discussing a long list of topics, eliminate a few and just focus on them. Good luck

Quick question guys. So my school is on a quarter system. We’re in the second quarter now, which ends at the end of March. Currently, my GPA is 3.82, but it’s going to drop a little after this quarter. I believe UNC releases decisions around April 15th, correct?

So basically, my question is…will UNC be accepting/rejecting us based on everything up until last semester/quarter? Or could they request our grades in April and choose to reject us based on those? Bit worried cause I’m taking like 3 classes and it looks like I’m going to get a B in all three.

I would say as long as they dont request them(for instance if you are considered borderline) you should be fine .As far as i understand you can get all b´s and would most likely be ok maybe even c´s

How does it look like?

Hello everyone can someone tell me the essay topic ?? I think the only one is the Common app one ?? I am planning to apply for the School of Business

From the Common App:

Please provide a statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve.*

*You’ll see a lot of talk about the word limit on this forum; the directions on the Common App state to keep the essay between 250-500 words, but a lot of people take that as a guideline and go over. It’s up to you, I guess.

Anyway, hope that helps!

Hey everyone!

I submitted yesterday, and I am looking forward to hearing from UNC. I’ve warmed up to it a lot since looking at the opportunities and curriculum the school provides. Fits me quite well, so I hope they see that, too.

Anyways just wanted to say hello and I’m in this with you guys :)

I submitted mine on Friday, do we get an e-mail for the ID thing?

Transferring From: East Carolina University

College GPA: 3.8 (CC), 4.0 (ECU), ~3.9 overall

Major: Neuroscience, applying for UNC biology

Minor:

ACT/SAT Scores: embarrasing

High School GPA: 2.95

Extracurricular Activities/Volunteer Work: volunteer work at a hospital (~80 hours), at the time I submitted my application I didn’t have many. Now I have quite a few. Does anyone know if I can update my application before March 1? I’m now a member of a few clubs, honor societies, and am a lab tech in a neuroscience lab.

Hooks: In my essay I talked about my journey going from a community college to a university due to my high school failures and how it has put things into perspective. Hopefully the admissions office will give me some mercy :).

Seafood, chancing is kind of useless in my opinion as I’ve seen admissions to many top schools (including UNC) to be kind of a crapshoot. Look at past transfer threads ([1 , 2](*Official UNC Fall 2010 Transfer Thread* - Transfer Students - College Confidential Forums)) to get an idea of the incoming transfer classes. This, at least, calms my fears :)

They haven’t got my transcripts yet, but I sent them like a month ago. But I only submitted my application like last Thursday or Friday.

@matisyahu They probably have received your transcripts but haven’t matched them up to your application yet.

Yeah the Admissions office told me that might be true.
Thanks for clarifying bnsox0

are the college official’s report, teacher evaluation, etc under ‘school forms’ required?
