we all are going to be fine.
if i don’t see my decision next week, i will forget about it and do my jobs
i currently have A, A, A-, B, A-, B+
i really have to boost up my grades but cant focus on them because of this wait

Is it possible that the decisions be released on Monday?
I remember someone said that a senior in the admission office said that the decision would be released by April 8th…

@ybing we don’t really have an idea. I think it’ll be next week sometime… Friday seems like a reasonable assumption based on when they normally put 'em out. But in all actuality, we don’t know. They’re not giving us much information in regards to an actual date, lol.

I’m so glad this thread exists! I’ve been dying wondering about other hopeful transfer students. Will the decisions be posted on the UNC Connect Carolina student center at the same time the letters arrive? I was accepted to University of Minnesota Twin Cities and I got the letter this past week but it still hasn’t even been posted online.

@sincerelysarah I believe you’ll be able to access the decisions online for UNC on myCarolina before the letter arrives. So basically, I think that online is gonna be the initial decision to let you know whether or not you’re expected and then the letter will be the “official” decision since you have the paper in your hand.

Hey guys. I also have been admitted to University of Michigan. I am econ major. What do you guys think where should I go if I got admitted by both schools?

@ to those of you that are accepted to umich

Hi, congritulations on your acceptance to such a great school. I think it’s just stupid to decide your school based on ranking, since both Umich and UNC are certainly ranked at the top. But here is my advice. When it comes to undergraduate and liberal arts program, I would thumb up for UNC. When it comes to more research opportunities and more professional-focused studies, I would thumb up for Umich. I don’t think there is a major difference between the two. -Well, except for the weather. But if I was accepeted to both schools, I would go to UNC for the warm weather, cheaper tuition, small size of the class room, a great care of students, and the emphasis on liberal arts.
I heard from my friends about Umich so many times and what they usually say is that it’s a hugh school, huge class room, a lot of research opportunities, cold weather, renowned professors, and more professional-focused programs like a graduate school.
Since both of them are very repected, well-known and one of the top schools in the nation, don’t take their ranks into consideration. If you guys are thinking about obtaining a job right after graduation, I would give Umich a slight edge over UNC. But if you guys are thiking about going to graduate shcool, UNC is the way to go, I guess, as its undergraduate programs are certainly top.
These all are simply my advices, and I would be very stressed out from deciding where to go as well if I were in your situation.

I googled quotes about patience, and this is one of my favorites. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Did you guys send an optional recommendation letter to the college? I’m wondering how much it would weight when making decision.

@Jk I didn’t. I think a lot of people on this thread did but idk. I think the heaviest weighted material will be transcript, GPA, & essay. I feel like recs. are one of those things that it’s something like if they’re so-so on accepting you, it could help you out if you have a really good rec. letter. It can’t be a heavily weighted portion I don’t think since it was optional.

i don’t think so either
recs are used to give the admission a clearer picture of you when they are considering whether accepting or denying a student.
GPA and essay are the critical factors in making decisions

according to collegeboard, very important admissions factors include GPA, Essay, personal qualities, class rigor, and test scores. important factors include work experience, community service, legacy, and ethnicity. thats for freshman, so if youre applying as a sophomore im assuming this is what they focus on. If youre applying as a junior, my guess is that your high school record and test scores become less important.

@Ronaldinho as a junior, they focus more on your college things than they do when you’re a sophomore.

you think the decisions will be out by Friday?

@bcotton right, thats why i said high school record and test scores become less important for juniors.

Main reason I didn’t send a rec is because it is doesn’t make a big difference for UNC’s decision. When people send in recs they are all likely to say “This individual is very talented and hard working etc.”. I don’t think having a rec will help much, unless it is from a notable person.

does anyone know when the deadline for international students is?
i thought it’s feb, 15 for all students, but i read a post that international students should submit by jan, 15 or something. Is it true? or is it for freshman?
im kind of confused because im an international and also transfer student.

@ tndud6364 No worries, that’s for freshman.

@zhaochang

thanks!!

@sincerelysarah I think so. Not 100% positive because they haven’t been very specific. But I think there’s a good chance.
