Just got accepted to one of my safety schools: American University School of Public Affairs. My god they were quick. Literally less then two weeks after submitting my app. I really hope we hear from Chapel Hill around the 8th so i can save money and not even bother submitting apps to four other schools.

@HopefulHeel – Almost all of my close friends split between UNC and UNCW. I was just down there two weeks ago for spring break. But, yeah I agree. My classmates will spend days studying for an exam, and get a C or B with much effort put in, and I won’t study or put minimal time in studying for the test and still make high A’s. I unfortunately slacked for finals last semester and ended up getting 2 A-'s which brought me down to 3.85. I’m looking at a 4.0 this semester though.

I got a 29 on the ACT but 1210 CR+MATH on the SAT

I’m pretty sure a 29 on the ACT is greater than 1210 on the SAT when they make those chart comparisons but I’m also aware the 1210 is below the sophomore transfer’s avg.

Anyone have thoughts on this? I sent them both my ACT & SAT.

My strong point on the SAT is, of course, writing - which doesn’t matter apparently lol.

I guess I’m just a little worried since it’s below avg…

I think your act transfers to around a 1300 or a 1920ish, and according to this [UNC News - Preliminary Profile: 2012 UNC-Chapel Hill First-Year Class](http://uncnews.unc.edu/content/view/5499/107/) link, the middle 50 percent was 1130-1370 for transfers, or 1690 to 2040. out of curiosity, what was your writing score? I assumed that they did look at the writing section, but i could be wrong.

I think my highest writing score was like… 680… I took the SAT twice.

Hi everyone just to show you how unimportant the sat is if you have between 45 to 60 credits. I had an sat score of 1530 in all 3 sections with a 3.8 gpa (3.6 the way unc calculates it) and i got in to unc. It also helps if you are international as i know the guy in charge of internationals and he pushes them to accept more internationals via transferring.

if your a junior i dont think you even have to send in sat scores. but bcotton my guess is that if you count your writing score, your sat and act are both in the accepted range (which seems to be a pretty big range admittedly)

well thanks @somebeast. that makes me feel a little better lol. I’m not international. But I do go to NYU right now & had a 3.75 first semester, so I’m hoping that’ll make up for my poor SAT-taking skills lol.

@Ronaldinho yeah, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see :x

Bcotton, I think your SAT and ACT are fine. I’m in the same boat on that. My score is below average for admitted transfers but its still in that “1690 to 2000 whatever” range. I really don’t think they weigh SAT as much for transfers, especially since we’ve proved ourselves in the college setting.

unless youre applying as a sophomore, I really wouldnt worry about your SAT that much because youve already got a full year of college work under your belt. If you are applying as a sophomore, then I think they’l evaluate you more like a first year student, but I dont think either of you have SAT scores that would dissuade them from from accepting you as long as youre in that range. especially considering youre coming from a school like NYU. just my 2 cents. this inhumane wait really needs to end soon

somebeast:
you don’t even have to submit it as far as my knowledge goes

@CCstudentNYC make that four! im applying as a junior and I go to nassau! although my GPA isnt that great (considering it should be higher at a community college) im praying to god that my EC’s, letter of rec, and legacy, and improvement really helps :’(

Lol Welcome to team community college Tdani19. What’s your intended major?

@CCstudentNYC I applied as a soc major…but interested in global studies too, but we’ll see. what about you? does anyone know if some majors are easier to get into? I have a 3.65 so im obviously a tad bit more worried than the avg person :(

@Tdani19

Did you send rec? I didn’t send mine in cuz they said it’s not required of transfer students. did you send in by mail or asked your professor to email them with rec?

btw I also have friends in nassau cmty college
and your grades are not so bad, don’t get your hopes down

@Ronaldinho I’m applying as a sophomore.

@tndud I’m pretty sure you had to if you were applying for sophomore year.

@tndud6364 haha thats very nice thanks. and no you didnt have to, (no transfer students have to whether you’re applying as a soph or junior) i thought I might as well considering my GPA isnt the greatest and my professor emailed it! and nice i actually know a few people that go to queens borough as well! what other schools did you apply to??

I’m applying for Political Science. Yea, the average GPA of accepted juniors is in the 3.5 range, so I wouldn’t worry as much.

im applying as a sophomore too, it seems like theres a lot of rising juniors here

No. If you were a sophomore transfer applicant, you had to submit the ACT or SAT. Junior applicants have the option to choose.

I’m only being so adamant about it because I’m worried one of you might be a sophomore transfer applicant that didn’t send it.

And just to clear it up for future transfer applicants that might look through this post. lol
