I was informed today that transfer applicants should hear back by the 14th. This wait is pretty rough to be honest… Chapel Hill is definitely my dream school. @collegeguy42 It is always competitive. Best of luck to you all! :)>-

He @PSIBETAPTKGIRL how did you find that out? If I had to bet money on it, they will probably release them next friday the 11th, but that is just my guess

@aprilsoccer Mathews 7:7 is how…lol but seriously I am confident with the information that I was given. Transfers should hear back by the week of the 14th.

sounds legit

@collegeguy42 I don’t think that the amount of posts on the thread has any correlation with the strength of the applicant pool. I was doing some research and found that some years are less competitive than others. In 2010, the average GPA for a transfer student was somewhere around a 3.29. Of course there are other factors to consider as well but I was surprised by how low the average GPA was. I guess we’ll find out in a week or two! Best of luck to you all.

New to the thread, but UNC has been my dream school since I was 5 years old.

This wait is killing me… anyone in the same boat?

Hi y’all I applied as well. Stats : freshman at a top 40 national university (similarly ranked as UNC)
Current GPA: 4.0 19 credits completed first semester. 20 credits in progress this semester.
SAT CR+M 1430 ACT: 31 IELTS:8.5 SATII MATH LV2 800 Chinese 800
HS GPA 3.85ish UW
2 College prof recs
Average EC’s. A few awards

UNC is one of my top choices. It is an incredible institution, and yet its tuition is relatively low compared to other peer schools. Based on last year’s thread, transfer students received an email which contained instructions on checking decisions on Tuesday, April 9th, 2013, and the majority of the decisions were released the following day. I doubt that the decisions will be released next Wednesday though (April 9th), as the deadline for transfer applications this year was extended to Feb 19 (as opposed to Feb 15 last year). I hope that we will all find out next Friday (April 11). Good luck everybody

Hi!

This is my first time posting and I wanted some opinions about my chances of being accepted for transfer for Fall 2014!

Transferring from local CC
Will be transferring with an Assoc. Degree
Cumulative GPA from first 3 semesters: 3.36
Don’t remember exact but high school gpa was pretty good, plus APs.
Highest ACT composite: 28, but when my two ACT attempts are super scored, it is higher
No ECs at my CC
Listed volunteer work on app, nothing extremely significant
2 family members currently attending, 1 (probably more than I listed in my app) graduated undergrad, 2 graduated from medical school, 1 graduated from law school, and 1 with a PhD from UNC. So lots of family affiliations.
Feel like I wrote a good essay about needing a more conducive environment for learning. Living 30 minutes from my CC isn’t exactly convenient and the library is always loud.
I am hoping to enter the Math Decision Science Major at UNC.
I will be taking 2 more math classes this summer, not sure if it will be at my CC or at UNC (would appreciate an opinion on that as well).

Help! Am I doomed?!

@Peanutbutter336 Hi I think since you’re applying as a junior, they don’t really look at your high school record. Your college GPA is sort of below average for UNC but given your really strong family ties I would not be surprised if you get in. Good luck

Just wanted some opinions about the likelihood of getting into UNC.

Applying from–Johns Hopkins
High School GPA: ~3.6
ACT: 34
College GPA–n/a as grades first semester were covered (Hopkins policy)
No affiliation with the school.
Lots of ECs including member of the IMP program in baltimore as well as the student run school spirit club.
I am a bit concerned about the fact that the grades were sent covered. Thoughts on this?

@otemachi

Why would you want to transfer from Hopkins @allwecandoishope? I’m currently applying there.

Hey guys. I’m applying as a sophomore transfer to UNC. I posted earlier, but only got one response. Would you mind chancing me?

Sex: Male
Ethnicity: White
Major: Germanic Studies

Highschool:
4.4 GPA (weighted), 7 AP classes, 3.6 GPA (unweighted)
Established an Honor Society at our school and became a member, member of NHS, president of a language club (former vice president), editor in chief of the yearbook, treasurer of Model UN, member of environmental club, member of the multicultural club, I speak 4 languages (don’t know if that is important or not), worked multiple summers overseas planting trees and teaching English in impoverished regions.

College:
The University of Florida (Also a flagship state school and Public Ivy). 3.6 GPA (currently, it should be higher by the end of this semester), 31 credits by the end of this year, Dean’s List, tutored multiple subjects, member of a couple of clubs, accepted into an academic abroad program that I will attend this summer, teach photography lessons.

Tests: ACT score- 34/36 (99th percentile)

Other: I have a VERY positive recommendation from one of my professors, and I also believe that my written essay is very strong. I am also an NC resident, as my family still lives in NC.

I would really appreciate if you all could let me know what you think my chances of acceptance are. Thanks a lot, and good luck to everyone else.

@allwecandoishope are you applying as a sophomore or junior?

I posted earlier but no one responded anyone have any advise/know anything about housing?? I’m worried because the other schools I applied to transfer to have specific transfer housing but UNC doesn’t which is a bit scary!!

lol guyz yall have really strong stats, which makes me scared…Anyone knows when decisions will be released?

Responding to gabby1994 about housing - I currently visit UNC every weekend since my girlfriend goes there, I know some transfer students ect so I think I can help you. Typically most transfer students end up in Joyner, which is a substance free dorm typically…however I don’t know if you have to abide by those rules if you’re a transfer.

And Otemachi I know right! It scares me slightly haha, I’m pretty confident that I’ll get in but I guess we just have to keep in mind, most people won’t post their stats unless they’re proud of them. You won’t often find someone posting pretty bad stats, not only that, it is the internet, so people are prone to exaggerate.

@Otemachi I think the general consensus is that decisions will be released by either this Friday or the Friday after.

@justblewit I thought decisions were thought to be available tomorrow due to last year’s release dates?

@justblewit last year, decisions were released on April 10th

Any word if the delay set back the date at all?
