** Official UNC Decision Thread Class of 2013 - Out of State **

For posterity, it might be beneficial to separate the results based on In-State or Out of State status, giving future students a more organized data pool against which to compare themselves. And since we all now know that we will be receiving our results in little over 2 days, might as well get started now! Good luck everybody!

Here's the Out of State thread; just complete the form below (remove the spaces after the first bracket in each part of code).

Just a question. If it said nothing on my letter about the scholar visitation day, does that me I am entirely out of the running for scholarships other than the Robertson? (I did apply to the Robertson via the supplemental form)

I am sorry to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I can appreciate that this decision is not the one you had hoped for, and I very much regret having to deliver it.

Our decision reflects the intensity of the admissions competition at Carolina. This year we expect nearly 24,000 applicants for roughly 3,900 spaces in our first-year class. With many more applicants than spaces, we cannot avoid making difficult decisions. While we do all that we can to treat each candidate fairly--every application is read at least twice, and most are read three or more times--in the end we must disappoint many students who we believe would be successful on our campus.

While it may be too early to begin thinking of next steps, I would like to emphasize that the door to Carolina remains open. Many candidates who are not admitted as first-year students reapply to Carolina for admission as transfer students after one or two years of student elsewhere. Others apply to Carolina's graduate or professional schools after completing their undergradate degrees. Should you remain interested in Carolina, please stay in touch with us, either by writing to request information about transfer admission or by revising your profile on your UNC homepage.

Again, xxxx, I regret that we are unable to offer you admission. Please know that I appreciate the interest you have shown in us and wish you well as you continue your education.

Sincerely,

Stephen Farmer
Associate Provost and Director of Undergraduate Admissions
