*Official UNC Fall 2010 Transfer Thread*

3.12 average? hmmmm…I feel a lot better about my chances

3.15, haha. Edited my last post.

Yeah my college gpa is definitely way above that, but my high school gpa and sat are a little lower than their average…so i guess I’m right on the line

It seems too good to be true. I hate that feeling because I’m usually right… but I mean it says it right there on the page :O

@TaggartNY Hey! My backup is UGA too!

Transfering2010- I did the same thing as you last year, and they let me in a second time. However, because I’m dumb, I didn’t accept the 2nd time either, but this time around I’m really ready to transfer so I’m really really hoping they’ll let me in a third :)

any tips on where/what to visit? my flight for raleigh-durham leaves in 10 hours! i’ve got a tour and a class scheduled so far…

I checked out the Smith center. It was like visiting Mecca. (After I visited the library and main part of the campus at least. :P)

About 45% of transfer admitted are juniors. Also the 3.15 was from like 2008, I remember hearing (reading) it was higher last year a couple of months ago, but can’t remember where.

yeah, i guess there are much more sophomore applicants than junior applicants… thats why only 45% were juniors.

wow… i hope you two (transferring and Notre Dame) are the only people who are applying again after getting in the first time… that’s 2 spots already taken up haha… and about that average GPA, isn’t that just the average college gpa or does it factor in high school also?? And I have a gut feeling we are gonna find out Thursday…my gut is usually right… But i also have a gut feeling i’m not gonna get in…

eriche: There were less sophomores accepted. Less than 45% that is.

@ above: That’s the college GPA only.

Is the difficulty of course schedule taken into consideration when applicants are evaluated? Suppose applicant A has a 3.75 GPA and completed several general educational requirements and taken a few upper level Liberal Arts courses. Suppose applicant B has a 3.0 < x < 3.75 GPA and has completed several upper level/graduate equivalent science courses. Suppose applicant A is in a few standard clubs and applicant B has been involved in & founded a research group/presented research each year of university. Lastly suppose both applicants are applying for the same class standing. Would applicant A and B be comparable?

I’m just curious since this could be a relevant issue. Anyways, I hope we find out something soon (maybe Thursday if lucky). I have been following this thread for a few days now. I am very anxious!

OK, reading all of these stats is making me feel like I have zero chance of being admitted. Can someone chance me please? 50/50 or less is how I’m feeling. I’m applying as a sophomore.

I was rejected as a freshman applicant.

Current college GPA is a 3.31 - low, I know. Courses this year have included lit, physics, bio, mass comm, digital design, humanities, sociology, and health/wellness.

I regularly volunteer for the Red Cross on a “disaster action team” that responds to calls from family fires, floods, snowstorms, etc.

Part of Lit Club and Amnesty International Club.

Had a job with a tutoring company at the time of application but have since quit. Held 2 other jobs before that.

Feel confident about my essays, but I didn’t send in any recommendations.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read that crapload of information. Thoughts?

@Thurston: Yes, that will most likely be taken into consideration. Especially with the ECs.

I think so.

meilliem: i’m surprised you were denied as a freshman applicant with that GPA and SAT score… I think you have a really good shot, but your college GPA is the one thing that could bring you down… I’m quite the opposite of you… My college GPA is the one thing i’m banking on, because my high school wasn’t that great…

Same. Kinda. 1 ~ 2 more days.

Finally.

its now April 14th Central Time…

Yes, and my eyes hurt like a b`itch.

Therefore, sleepy time. BE BACK TOMORROW TO INVADE THIS WONDERFUL THREAD OF JOY AND HOPE (and then crushed dreams)! xD
