Wow, you have a lot to learn before you get anywhere in life. As a white student attending a school with a fair amount of black students, let me tell you that the vast majority of them are very, very qualified to be here, as I'm sure is the same at UNC.

Stop with the excuses, besides looking pathetic and unsportsmanlike, it's just wrong.

FN: Congratulations on your acceptance to UNC. I wish you the best in future endeavors at Carolina!

I made a mistake on my stats, my gpa is 3.87 unweighted not weighted.

thanks vc08! and i while was very suprised because i was an unlikely candidate as far as testing goes i still had plenty of other things goin for me (essays, rec, and activites)

honestly, I think they dont like IB kids... this is a real drag.... i hope people who dont want to go to UNC tell them quickly because I want my spot opened up FAST

i got waitlisted after being deferred. when i sent them my new second semester grades, i also sent them an update of what had been going on (i had won the volleyball state championship, been named a student activist in a new orleans magazine, and was still doing well in my tough classes).
unc was my top choice but my dad said that it would be the hardest one for me to get into because i'm not from north carolina. i also applied to princeton and rice and got accepted into wash u in st. lous. they say they won't take you off of the waitlist by june 30 at the latest, but i have a 24K scholarship at tulane that i have to accept by may 1. this isn't looking too good...

Umm, I'm not unsportsman like. I am stating the obvious (I am also a URM). And lol, I got in Early OOS with Honors Program... So I am not making excuses. I even made Duke.

And I agree most of the admitted students are capable of handling the course load, but some are not even close to being as qualified as some of the others (asian, white) who get rejected.

I'm getting sick and tired of seeing minorities gain admission into selective schools with lower stats. If minorities wish to be viewed as equals, as they should, then colleges should evaluate everyone on the same level.

wowwwwwww...how bout we turn this back into a decision thread..cause I sense alot of bitterness going on here

tut get over it...just because u have an issue (and who ever else) really doesn't matter

Tut-

Even though an applicant may be a minority, this does not mean they have nothing else going for them. You're simply looking at the stats and that is not always reliable.

That person's essays, ECs, and recommendations could have been great. And most stats I've seen from URMs are really good.

Please explain what URM is.

URM is the acronym for under represented minority. Minorities (African Americans, Native Americans and Latinos) who are minorities in the US and who are also under represented in America's colleges. Non URM's would be minorities in the US who are not under represented in America's colleges (Asians, Jews).

Funny. I thought the Supreme Court ruled affirmative action to be unconstitutional. Reverse discrimination at its finest

No I got rejected... I'm biased of course but I think the decision was harsh

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: I'm disappointed but it wasn't my top choice so not heartbroken... I'm just not looking forward to the fact that this seems to indicate what a slaughter the admissions process is going to be this year. Also I applied RD. Congrats to those who did get in though

And by the way that was supposed to be in reply to the person who said they wondered if anyone got rejected but I don't really know how this formatting works. Does anyone else think this whole process is completely skewed and somewhat unfair?

I have to agree with Tut.
If everyone's treated as equals, then the admissions people shouldn't have access to name/country/ethnicity as part of the application.

I'm an OOS IB student and I got accepted
