[] Essays: My mother insisted on editing my UChicago essays and eliminated a lot of the more abstract ideas from them. In retrospect, my Common App essay kind of sucked as well.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Probably pretty good. English and History (my to best subjects).
[li] Counselor Rec: I never got to read it; I know that my counselor loves my writing, but not necessarily me as a person. She’s known to write good recs, but was overall unimpressed with me compared to some of my other classmates.
[/li]

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: GPA and extracurriculars. I gave my app a lot of personality, so I hope that it at least stood out.
[] Weaknesses: Essays, tests, recs, class rank, no awards, etc.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Mediocre academics coupled with whiny essays.
[] What other schools have you been accepted to/plan on going? Accepted at my safeties (University of Tulsa and American). I was originally deferred at UChicago and Georgetown in EA. This is my first non-safety school from which I have heard back RD.

General Comments: Well, this sucks. I love the school, and it sounds like a ton of my friends got in, if they hadn’t already been accepted EA. Congrats to everyone who made it!
