[] Essays: Pretty good, I thought. My find x was about how my friend and I spontaneously roadtrip to random places to get out of our town. I said that the journey was X. My common app was about how my messy room is a reflection of my mind. I don’t recall my favorite things essay, but my Why Chicago essay focused on the Law, Letters, and Society program, so it showed that I’d done a lot of research.
[] Teacher Recommendation: I waived my rights but got to read both anyway. The first, from my English/Film Literature teacher was pretty generic, but nice. The second, from my Civics/Free Enterprise/European History teacher was incredible… best rec I’ve ever read. She specifically mentioned what I had added to her class and papers I’d written… even my paper on the economics of legalized prostitution. =P
[] Counselor Rec: I didn’t get to read it. It was actually my from my Vice Principal who has acted as my counselor throughout high school since our counselors tend to focus more on kids who are having trouble graduating. This Vice Principal is so dedicated to her students and loves me, so I’m sure it was great.

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Essays, senior courseload, GPA, ECs
[] Weaknesses: Didn’t take AP English, Thrown together App, Few APs, lack of major awards, quit some ECs/started several ECs senior year, no interview
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I got very lucky, and I think my essays may have a had a decent impact.
[] What other schools have you been accepted to/plan on going?: Waitlisted at WashU and Tulane (Won’t take a waitlist spot at either), Deferred from Brown ED, Harvard Academic Likely Letter, Accepted to Drexel and LSU (Safeties). I’m still waiting to hear back from Brown, Yale, and Vandy, but I think it will come down to Harvard and University of Chicago.
[/ul]
General Comments: This process is so random. As you can see above, I got waitlisted at two school I almost considered sure bets, but got a Harvard likely and accepted to UofChicago. So for those of you that ended up waitlisted or rejected, please realize it’s no reflection on you personally, and it doesn’t mean that you have no chance anywhere else. It’s all just part of the game. Personally, I’m ecstatic and so thankful for this acceptance. After such a rollercoaster of admissions results, I’m happy to be currently riding a high point. =)
