Just an idle, random thought, mainly directed at those who are opposed to posting test scores, etc: Speaking as one who did post her stats, but who was uneasy with her decision, I wonder if it would be best of each one sent his/her stats privately to a designated moderator, and that chosen ones posts all of the stats? That way, "data" is collected, but no one needs to violate his/ her privacy. Just a thought...

LightBright: My English teacher said that my long essay was among the best ones she's ever read because it revealed my inner thoughts or something like that in a really creative and original way that was uniquely me ... and I still got deferred.

I always wondered how my teacher recs and how they looked at my grades. Is a 3.83 really that low?

@Kong Wen and anyone else who is saying that they thought UChicago is holistic---

I am surprised by the high scores of a lot of applicants, but I got accepted by my SAT and ACT which were only decent, but not above 2200+ (i had a 2110, and 33). My GPA is 3.85. (class rank top 1 %) I'm not a URM (actually, the total opposite...I'm asian. lol). And I truly think it was the combination of my essays/interview/ECs and the holistic process I believed UChicago uses that got me in. Granted I'm only one example, but while I think Chicago went off of scores more this year, URM didn't really play out and they did view it holistically to a certain extent. (lol i wrote my commonapp essay for Chicago on identity/race so i thought i might comment. =D)

I guess I'm over it now.

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: confused and sad. can someone tell me why I wasn't at least deferred. I am probably assuming too much though.

ab- I have worse stats then you do in basically everything. I have about the same GPA UW. You have a higher SAT and more APs. My essays were really creative though, and my personal statement was apparently really moving. I am in foster care, which I suppose is a unique URM so I don't know how that helped me, if at all. I'm assuming it would, but I could be wrong.
