Official University of Florida Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

Hey everyone, just thought it would be a good idea to start a UF 2013 transfer thread. I know it's a tad bit early to even think about hearing from UF about transfers, but I thought it would be a good place to talk about everyone's chances and what not. So, I have a 3.4ish GPA and have multiple volunteering hours. I have applied to be in the school of Criminal Justice. Does anyone know if the Criminal Justice program is highly competitve?

–i know its early but we might as well begin this now–

With your GPA, I’m sure you will get into the Criminal Justice program. I applied for Summer B and am waiting for my status to say something other than “Your application for admission to the University of Florida for the Summer B 2013 term has been received.
Please allow 2-4 weeks for an initial review of your application by the Admissions Office.” I check it multiple times a day just to see if it has changed from this…

Hey all! This is my first post! I was searching for tips on transfering to UF and found a thread about Spring 2012 transfers.

Present College: St. Johns River State College
Intented Major: Agricultural Education
Date Applied: End of January? I don’t remember the exact day.

Preprofessional GPA: My required prereqs are at a 2.5 now because I failed College Algebra. I am repeating it so it will go up a bit, but not much. They require a 2.0
Overall GPA: Now that’s complicated. According to UF’s standards it’s only a 2.03, but I brought a .65 from previous classes taken 13 years ago. I wish they would disappear, but they won’t. My gpa for current coursework (including 2 transient classes at Santa Fe) is a 2.85. After I finish my current coursework it will be a 2.53 overall and a 2.90 for current coursework. Also UF may not accept all the classes from my previous school that St. Johns did, so that could help me. I hope anyway. They require a 2.5 for admission in my major…I hope they don’t deny me right away because I will have that after Spring, and it will be higher still after summer when I complete the last 3 classes for my AA.

ECs/Employment: None really because I am an old lady lol. I am involved with my son’s 4-H club and I raise and show Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats.

Application Status: It just says it was recieved and to give the 2-4 weeks to process it. I just requested my transcripts yesterday. My HS and Santa Fe transcripts are being sent electronically, but my other 2 colleges are sending them by mail. I got emails from both today stating that they’ve been sent.

Any questions comments or concerns: I’m a nervous wreck. I don’t think that my major is limited access. I talked to someone at CALS and he told me that if my GPA is a 2.53 at the end of Spring I should have no trouble getting in. I just worry that they will only look at the final numbers and not at how much better I am doing now. I did mention it in my statement on my application. Let this be a lesson to the young people. Do it right the first time! You don’t always get a 2nd chance (I have, but I may lose it if I can’t get in to UF), and old mistakes can come back to haunt you.

Hello,
I am hopefully and anxiously waiting for my acceptance letter to UF, for the Fall 2013 semester.
I currently attend a CC with a 3.52 GPA.
I am finishing up some pre.req. classes in the summer and will have my AA degree in like a week.
I have applied for Soil and Water Science at CALS.
I was told I will be notified no later than July 15th…
& my ISIS says that my application was refereed to my college for a final decision for like ever now lol hasn’t changed yet.
I am guessing things will start moving quicker for transfer students now that the freshmen are out of the way…
Any one know my chances of getting into this program?
