@Calliegirl123456: I am trying to do the same thing; not to mention that a lot of people need to base their decisions on financial aid. I would advise you to call the admissions office and ask them.

Let us know how it goes!

That’s strange they said April because I emailed them about a week and half ago and they said next week starting May 1 ??? Maybe they were thinking Freshmen Aid?

I was at Maryland yesterday, they said may 1st is the deadline for them to send financial aid packages out to admitted students. And for transfers, only the specific school admitted you will consider offering grant, NOT the university. I really doubt they will be generous with aid, but we’ll find out soon.

Has anyone talked to them about extending the time for enrollment confirmation?

I did and they told me they don’t do that

Sent from my SPH-L710 using CC

dang it!!! I’m still waiting to hear back from georgetown…what happens if i put down the deposit and end up not going??

I did not fill out the fafsa because we would not qualify for any financial aid. Will i still be getting some sort of financial packet in the mail?

I think so. Even if you are not in the income bracket to receive federal aid, there are merit-based scholarships/grants that different schools within UMD offer…Financial aid packages will arrive next week most likely.

Got an email saying i was confirmed for housing!!

Sent from my SPH-L710 using CC

I’m trying to call them now; if I get any info on housing/enrollment/fin. aid, I’ll let y’all know. How much is the enrollment deposit?

Does anyone know the likelyhood of transfers being placed in on-campus housing this year? That’s a make it/break it for me.

I got housing so there is a good chance I’d guess

Sent from my SPH-L710 using CC

So there is still a chance to get merit aid even if I did not fill out a fafsa?

absolutely!

Oh cool!! Well now I am pretty excited to get my financial packet!

so everyone has decided to attend Maryland at this point?

Not me; still waiting for housing, financial aid, and guarantee that I can switch into my preferred LEP major. Still need to visit the campus too :/

they should have indicated which school they admitted you into. Unless you haven’t done all the gateways?

Well, they accepted me as undecided, and I would like to get into the gvmt LEP, but they don’t have international relations, which stinks.

I think I only have a few gateways left. I just don’t want to go to Cp, enroll, etc. and then have them tell me that I can’t do the major I want. My friend said that (even though she was well on her way into the business major at MC, UMCP said she wouldn’t be able to get into Smith. That’s why I’m worried).

Similar thing happened to me. I was first accepted to Letters and Sciences as an undecided, then my counselor called college park and they switched me to Smith…I did have all of my gateways completed though. I don’t know what your friend’s situation is, but she should ask her counselor to call smith college for her… I’m a MC student too! And a friend of mine got into Smith with a 3.3 last semester.

When I went to the campus tour, they did say something about creating your own major if there isn’t already one that you want to study. So you probably want to ask them about it, and hopefully, they will have something figured out for you.

Really? Cool! Interesting to meet fellow MC-ers here!
I’ve been doing the general ed. curriculum, but I have completed Intro. to International Relations, and I may do Am. Government over the summer. I just want to verify that if all of my gateways are completed within the next two semesters, there shouldn’t be a problem getting into the Gvmt and Politics major.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll let y’all know what happens.
