***Official University of Michigan Class of 2015 Decisions Thread***

^ I actually believe that I do have something to complain about. The official U of M website says they have rolling decisions. The admissions office has given me 5 different answers which I feel is very unprofessional. If they said decisions would be released in April, I would not be upset, but the fact that they said rolling decisions had an effect on our decision on how to apply and now they are changing it does not seem reasonable to me. But I guess that’s just me.

Just called Undergraduate Admissions… the person I talked to said that there would be NO decisions “today or tomorrow, look for it sometime next week” and she refused to give any definitive answer. She might be misinformed but if not, sorry guys. Guess we’ll just have to wait.

Guys… It’s only a week

Meanwhile stock up on booze, a lot of us will need it to get through Christmas

kabizzle,
takes guts to call the admissions office to pester/question them…thanks for being the bad guy for all of us and then sharing your findings…i was guessing that it wouldn’t happen today since wolverine access is still totally accessible…also, i was thinking Friday, since they appear to be so concerned about people opening the decision while in school…smartphones have added a whole new dimension to potential issues about which to worry…good luck to everyone on staying calm…my D has definitely had a very nervous stomach ever since that teaser email on Monday

^ you make a great point about smartphones (im on one rigt now :p)! Hopefully they were thinking he same thing and release them on friday! Or atleast start releasing them on friday!

outsider here: this could potentially be very good for all of you EA people, in fact, the later the better…

If UMich was really smart, they would wait until all the other schools ED acceptances had time to withdraw their apps; that way, UMich could actually eliminate some of the uber-thousands who applied who will not be attending…

They were originally supposed to have binding ED themselves this year; would have taken alot of the angst out of this for all of you…unfortunately, some rocket scientist in Ann Arbor decided this would be better (for who??)

The question is: will admissions turn defers and rejects to acceptences if ED people withdraw their applications?

I think this won’t have any use to us because decisions have already been made and there won’t be any changes until they are announced.

^^true, but it’s nice to dream…and as I have said before, UMich has NEVER rejected in the EA round…heck, I don’t even know if they reject in the RD round (usually waitlist)

For any of you who have a sibling or child attending Michigan:
I am the parent of both a EA applicant and a Michigan freshman student. I recently received an email requesting I check my freshman student’s account which is accessible via WA. I followed the link and logged into “MY STUDENT’S INFORMATION”. I expected to see Daughter #1’s information, but instead saw Daughter #2’s name in the drop down menu and an account set up but a zero balance. Daughter #1’s name is there as well. Can anyone with a sibling or child attending Michigan confirm the same? I called the registrar and they saw both kids listed and then I called Admissions (the women was very kind) and said that everything was in order, but never answered the question of why both girls’ names would be on the “MY STUDENT"S CENTER” drop down menu. Is this standard for all applicants who have a sibling at Michigan? Anyone got a clue? BTW: I have been following this thread since it’s inception and not only found the information provided helpful, but also appreciate the thoughtful way you all communicate with each other. Thanks for sharing all your thoughts and feelings. It’s a stressful time but the wait is almost over. I wish all of you the best of luck!

^ Rodney, you seem very knowledgable about U of M’s procedures. Do you have any concrete knowlege as to how they are handling reg. decision applicants this year? The say rolling decisions starting in January in both their website and when you go on the tour. However, some people in admissions say all decisions will come on the same date in April while others say we will start hearing in January. Any idea which is accurate? Thanks!

@souris
I would consider it as a clue since, logically, the script would first check if the your children’s database entries have “isAdmitted” field as “1” or “true” before listing them under your account. Of course, they may have skipped adding this control like Georgia Tech skipped adding a checking procedure in the deposit payment page. Rejected students were able to pay the 250$ enrollment deposit. :)

…and yeah, I will major in computer science. :)

rodney how are you so sure that no one has ever been rejected in the EA round?

Thank you for your insightful reply - I didn’t know the thing about Georgia Tech (that’s a big gaffe). Well, we will cross our fingers and hope it is a clue.

“rodney how are you so sure that no one has ever been rejected in the EA round?”

I second this question. It seems like weird statement because UMich has never had EA before…

^ I’m almost positive Michigan has had EA for many years…my sister applied that way last year. But they’ve never had ED.

^They’ve had early response in the previous years. It’s essentially the same thing I believe, but the name change was to correlate with the common app. I was implying that we really can’t base much off past years because past years were not Common App.

^ Ahhh okay I gotcha hahaha sorry!

Patience never was my blessing in life, and it’s being tested now more than ever. D:

I can’t

  • Eat
    -Sleep
    -Focus
    -Do Homework

EVERYONE ELSE HAS THEIR EARLY DECISIONS. . . COME ON UMICH, seriously…

You can’t eat? How could you possibly be that nervous?
