[/ul]General Comments: Still in shock that I got in! Will definitely be attending.

@michATheart Your academic stats are great, but you didn’t really say anything about your extracurriculars. They really do mean it when they say they are considering a holistic review of each student. If you got deferred, then you still have time to join some clubs and acquire some leadership roles in them. The leadership can be about starting an effort within the clubs themselves, as well, of course, being President/VP/etc.

For example, I received a 32 on my ACT and had 4 B’s throughout high school, as well only 6 APs total throughout high school. However, I was the VP of two clubs, initiated many efforts within others, and was involved a lot.

Hope this helps! Good luck! Keep your head up!

@jimmy2014
I am going to guess that it has to do with your EC’s. Your academic stats are great, but they are definitely going to consider a holistic approach.

I don’t know about Northwestern’s Engineering program’s rank, but it’s a great school nonetheless, so good luck! All the best!

@WishfulWolverine

Same here!!! It was my first-choice university, but I was not a 100% sure I was going to be accepted! Unbelievably happy!

Reflection:
Strengths: ACT? Essays maybe…but it’s all subjective, so it could be anything.
Weaknesses: SAT, but I didn’t send, no 5’s on AP scores?..once again, it’s all subjective.
Why you think you were accepted: I tried to put as much of myself as I could into my application, and I guess they liked that.
Where else were you accepted/rejected/deferred: Salem College (Accepted, Safety), Yale (Rejected)
General Comments: I really needed this acceptance after being rejected from Yale, because that letter basically tore me apart. Needless to say, I am absolutely thrilled to be accepted into such a great school! I have been a Michigan fan since my toddler years :)Out of state tuition is really expensive, so it might not work out, but I’m so glad I get the chance to consider it! For all those deferred, better days are coming, I promise. To all of those accepted, congrats!

[] Income Bracket(mention if FA candidate):I don’t have a concrete idea but anyway it’s enough to go to university
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.):none, I think. If there should be one, then it’ll be the toy book I made months ago for my teacher and friend, he was really impressed.

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths:my essays, and the toy book I guesss
[] Weaknesses:everywhere, esp my grades
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: first it must because of my grade, for UMICH actually sent me email to ask if I plan to take another SAT(obviously they don’t satisfy with my scores, too). Anyway, I am just so happy that I am waitlisted not outright rejected.
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:none except UMICH has results till now, since I didn’t sent all schools EA and are waiting for the RD results.

[/ul]**General Comments: ** my grade is so low but everybody around me just believes that I should get above 2000 on SAT. And at that time I just feel tired about it and now I wonder should I take the SAT again. After all I think I am able to get at least 100 or 200 higher. Please chance me the opportunity to get in if you have time (I am on the waitlist and plan to take SAT again), thank you all.

Invitation to apply to Honors email came about one day after acceptance.

Accepted to IU, Baylor, MiamiOH. Waiting on Wisconsin, UNC-Chapel Hill, and UVA.

Just a question. Some of you are saying “Waitlisted.”
DO you mean Deferred? Or has Mich already started wait-listing?
Because deferred is NOT the same as being Waitlisted.
After being deferred, you receive another round of consideration wherein you are either accepted, rejected OR waitlisted.

Being waitlisted does imply tentative acceptance.

So I was curious about the word usage.

I’m pretty sure only Beatrixxx has used “Waitlisted” and she probably meant deferred…

but I have no idea.
