Here is the reject letter:

Dear XXXXX,

Thank you for applying for Preferred Admission to the BBA Program at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you admission through the Preferred Admission process. The number of highly qualified applicants far exceeded the spots available for Preferred Admission. Our decision does not affect your admission to the College of Engineering, nor does it affect your admissibility to the Ross BBA Program if you choose to re-apply as a freshman.

We hope that you will choose to enroll at the University of Michigan and re-apply to the 3-Year BBA Program for Fall 2010. The admission rate for freshman applicants is much higher than for high school seniors applying through the Preferred Admission program. If accepted, you would begin the BBA Program as a sophomore, the same time as those students admitted through Preferred Admission, and complete your degree in the ensuing three years. Academic Advisors will be available to assist you with course selection during your freshman year.

We will be holding BBA information sessions and application workshops in Fall 2009. In addition, BBA peer counselors will be available to answer questions about the program and the freshman application process. Details about these opportunities will be sent to you in the fall.

We congratulate you on your admission to the College of Engineering. We hope that you choose to come to the University of Michigan and consider re-applying to the BBA Program next year.

Go Blue!

Michelle Thompson
Director of BBA Admissions

Oh well.

If someone has a copy of the admit letter, please post it as a reply.

Wow I didn't think they would release decisions until mid-April. Guess I'll have to keep an eye on the mail.

They post decisions through e-mail. I found it a surprise too.

Oh no. I guess I'm just going to be glued to the screen. Darn it.

Here's what the acceptance letter looks like! :)

Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX,

Congratulations! The Admissions Committee is pleased to offer you preferred admission to the Bachelor of Business Administration Program beginning Fall 2010, after you have completed one year in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts.

This offer of admission is contingent upon the following:

• Earning a combined 27 or more credits in the Fall Term 2009 and Winter Term 2010 at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor (Note that courses in which you earn a C- or lower do not count toward the credit minimum for Ross)

• Earning a cumulative GPA of 3.3 at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor (Note that GPAs will not be rounded up from 3.29)

• Completing the three prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor

• Maintaining academic excellence during your senior year in high school (Note that weak academic performance may impact your admissions decision)

• Submitting your first semester grades from your senior year to the Ross School of Business (Note that you may be required to take a math course based upon the results of your first semester grades from your senior year)

You are invited to attend a welcome event at the Ross School of Business on March 27, 2009 from 2:30-5:00 p.m. Details will be forthcoming via e-mail. If you already have plans to visit Ann Arbor on an alternate date, please contact me and I will arrange for you to have a tour of Ross and meet with representatives.

Also, there will be several workshops throughout the year designed to give you a head start in exploring your business interests. Your attendance at these workshops is required. When you arrive on campus in the fall, you will be able to make appointments to meet with your Ross advisor.

To confirm your acceptance for preferred admission, please complete the BBA Preferred Admit Reply Form (<a href="http://www.bus.umich.edu/pdf/2009%5B/url%5D">http://www.bus.umich.edu/pdf/2009</a> Preferred Admit Reply Form.pdf) and return it to the Ross School of Business by May 1, 2009. You can fax it to us at (734) 763-7804.

Once again, congratulations on your preferred admission to the Ross BBA Program. We are pleased to welcome you as a member of the Ross School of Business.

Sincerely,

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I'm really sorry for those who were not accepted. You guys had much better stats than I do. Best of luck to those who decide to reapply and congratulations to everyone who got accepted.

^wow you do certainly deserve Ross admission.

@ab2013: your stats are there, but the biggest reason why you didn't get in is because you don't have enough real-world business / entrepreneurship or leadership experience. Furthermore when the B-school admissions committee sees the words "lemonade stand," it pretty much throws out the app on the spot.

Anyway, to be constructive, I recommend you try to get more leadership / entrepreneurial experience your freshman year (if you come to Umich), and ditch the lemonade stand example.

Alright. So i didn't get a decision at all. And i was accepted to the University way back in November. But I didn't pay the deposit until now.

Does anyone think that because I didn't pay the deposit they haven't decide on me yet?

Did Anyone that received a decision not pay the deposit like me?

yeah i got in and i paid the deposit afteri got into the b-school, but give it time. they released a very small batch last week....and have many more to come

alright thanks Spring!

some thing good, yet strange and worrying happened today. I got into UM.

I applied to UM preferred admit to Ross and it said that on Wolverine Access. But now i received an email saying I got into UM and LSA but no mention of Ross. And now that I check my WA again, there is no mention of Ross or preferred admit, like I never applied to it. I even checked my application and i did fill out the preferred admit part, and wrote all my essays, especially the Ross one. and all my stuff was received much before the 1/4 deadline.

hmm the preferred admit program was the only thing keeping me considering UM... should I call them tomorrow?

thats how its supposed to work.... you have to get into LSA first because you spend your freshman year in LSA. so basically if you dont make LSA you have no chance at Ross. You'll hear from Ross sometime between now and April probably. The people that just heard from Ross recently, had already gotten into Michigan LSA in October/November

oohhhh ok thanks so much for explaining it to me!
now I can relax and just keep waiting haha.

lets bumpity bump this baby up to the top. I'm so freakin nervous....but if I get into Ross, I think $80000 debt upon graduation will be worth it.

tsh, I hope you are kidding. Ross (or any other undergraduate academic program, including Harvard, for that matter) is not worth $80k of debt. $20k-$40k of debt is fine. Anything over $50k is just too much, especially that the days of 20 somethings earning huge bonuses are most likely gone. If you get a scholraship or some need-based aid and can trip that projected debt to under $50k, go for Michigan. Otherwise, seriously consider a more reasonable option.

hah yes, I was kidding. I'm just a bit ****ed that with my EFC and the crappy financial aid state schools provide(just saying) I won't be able to attend Umich whether Ross or not.

when do you guys think the next round of decisions is coming out?
