[ /list][ b]General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I wasn’t really expecting to get preferred admit, and it’s not really factoring into my decision. I’m not really threatened by the prerequisite classes, so if I end up at U of M, I’ll still try to work my way into Ross. Congrats to all who got in.

^^^I have no idea how to format that correctly so I’m just going to leave it.

I was just at a Michigan Direct Admit Program yesterday, so my assumption is that if you haven’t received an email about the business school yet you are probably on their version of a waiting list…if spots open up they will admit a few people. But I am only speculating. Also there admission process might seem random but they stressed that they took students who had stats beyond directly just good grades. They said that they denied many people applying with 1600 SATs because they lacked any other expletives in their application, which would make them stand out. Most were admitted because of some activity or achievement that showed leadership or whatever… Good luck to those who haven’t heard.

I emailed Ross about it and they said they are still in the process of reviewing it…They said they’re still sending out decisions so I (we) still have hope…

I haven’t been admitted to either, but would you guys prefer uchicago or mich business? Both aimed towards business o course.

Pancak3z, your disapointment is natural. However, try to remember that the average student preadmitted into Ross has your GPA (4.0) and class rank (top 5%) but also an average SAT 350-400 points higher than yours. And the acceptance rate into the program is 20%, which means that even the most qualified of candidates will get rejected.

At any rate, if you can maintain a high GPA at Michigan as you have in High School, you should get into Ross once at Michigan.

remember kids, a good **** goes a long way

How many people does Ross accept as sophomores at UMich?

And has anyone gotten an acceptance from Ross yet?

idk how many students persay, but about 34% of those freshmen who apply get in.

Thanks Fai for answering. I haven’t received a response from Ross yet, and I really want to go to UMich for business. (i got into LSA)

People have told me that it’s too risky to go there if I haven’t been accepted into Ross… so I was wondering if it’s true. I’m pretty confident I will work hard and maintain a good GPA.

I am still waiting for Ross. I am entirely looking forward to getting into a business school, and I got into BC Carroll. Got waitlisted at Stern…I’m 99% sure that I wouldn’t get into Ross as a transfer when I go Michigan…So I am in a dilema right now. I really want to go to Michigan, but I don’t want to major in economics for like 4 years…What do you think?

Now being preferrably admitted into Ross is my only hope…

Karen, I got waitlisted too. You and I are on the same boat, LOL.
Do you live in NY?

Karen, Michigan Economics is awesome. It is tied with Columbia and ranked above Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke and NYU. I never understood the fixation with Business. If it is about job placement at graduation, Michigan Econ would probably equal BC Carroll anyway.

And why are you 99% sure you would not be able to transfer into Ross once at the University of Michigan? 30%+ of Michigan transfers get into Ross. If you maintain a good GPA (over 3.5) you have a better than 50% chance of getting Ross.

harmonykiss, no I don’t live in NY. It’s really cool how we’re on the same boat…we also got into BC together. LOL. I’ve decided to go blue. I’m just going to take Economics for now as my major and see what happens…I mean my ross decision is not out yet. I’m planning to send in my mid-year report in case, because I’ve been doing really well in my AP Calc class…

Alexandre, yes I’ve decided to take the risk of going to Michigan even though I’m not preadmitted into Ross. Econ sounds decent. But I’m still praying for my Ross decision…They said it’s still under review! You think it’s a good idea to send in my midyear report? (to better my chance).

Thanks for the advice! :)

has anybody gotten the decisions recently? I still haven’t gotten my decision yet and May 1st is nearing! does anybody know when they will send out another round of the decisions or are they done sending them out? :/

so can anyone explain this to me. Everyone got accepted in the michigan in here right? So once to get admitted tomichigan, you have to apply again to Ross or Lsa? What if you dont make either?

Blackdarkeye, when you apply you apply to one school (there’s several, Ross not being one of them), and with preferred admit to one of another two. (Ross is one, I forgot the other; and this is only if you choose to do so) If you don’t get into either then you didn’t get in at all. Otherwise you would get into whatever you applied to but not Ross, or you’d get into both (and go to Ross).
