Official University of Michigan Transfer Thread for Fall 2015

@ctalbot17‌ Congratulations! That is, indeed, a crazy response time. Hope it’s like that for all of us (including the acceptance).

boilerup4purdue - I applied to the LSA and live in Michigan! And thanks!
TheDeltaG - Thanks! And yeah, I heard back 3 days before the 4 week mark. And I understand, the wait was the WORST! Haha.
fn1518 - Thanks! I was shocked they responded so quickly, but I did get mine in as early as I could. Im guessing being a legacy helped, too. I’m lucky, haha.

Good luck, guys!

Chance me anyone?

OOS Community College, Honors Program

Applied for CoE, Mech Eng major

HS GPA: really low, like 2.7. But there were personal issues going on throughout high school that I explain in my essays.

College GPA: 3.982
College Credits: 61 total. 55 in college, 6 from AP. 17 of those credits are Honors Credits

Currently taking 16 credits this semester

ACT Composite: 32
ACT Math: 33
ACT Reading: 36
ACT English: 30
ACT Science: 27

SAT Math Level 1: 710
SAT Math Level 2: 750
SAT Physics: Took last month but feel really strong about it, anywhere from 680 to 740
SAT Chemistry: Again, took last month but feel kinda weak about it, anywhere from 550 to 650

ECs: Really strong, president of two clubs, founder of one. Row for local competitive team. Trying to start a nonprofit rowing program with local rowing club. Officer for PTK. Member of volunteer leadership team where I organized three different events, over 100 total service hours given. Undergraduate Research program. Nationally ranked rower in high school. AMATYC Student Math League

Essays: Most were really strong. The only one that I felt was “fluffy” was my community essay.

The only thing I’m really worried about is the prestige of UMich’s ME Department and how hard it is to get in.

Thank you and good luck to everyone!

@ctalbot17 Did you submit your app on 1/05 or was it complete on 1/05? I submitted mine on 1/11 and got my UMID on 1/15. I’m trying to figure out what day i’ll hear back!

Actually I just have a general question. When do you know for sure what date your application was complete? On my admission status page it says exactly:

Application Date
01/11/2015

Does that mean it was audited as complete by the university or that it was just submitted on that date? I really am anxious to hear back! I hope I know by at the latest Valentine’s day!

@minatoelric They say that if you have 55 or more credit they don’t really look at high school. You have junior status and your GPA is good. I really don’t think they are going to consider much of your GPA or testing. You at least finished high school. On past threads I noticed that people who either didn’t finish high school or dropped out of a four-year institution for community were the ones who were rejected.

I know of two people that have found out in 2 weeks. One applied in early January and the other applied in the middle of January. They both are second semester freshmen from 4 year institutions and they didn’t necessarily have very strong applications. I applied the third week of January and based on those two people, I am expecting to find out within the next week. Good luck everyone!

I believe that is just the date you sent in the application. After I sent in my app the only thing they needed was my transcript. So I sent in my app back in October, which it shows, then it shows that they received/processes my app on 01/05 which would have completed my application.

Hope this helps!

I applied from macomb community college in late Dec, and received acceptance within a week after they received all my material.
College gpa was 3.8

@goblue2096 what school did they apply for?

I just checked with the office of admissions. My file is officially completed, BUT it did not indicate this on Wolverine Access. The only thing that it shows are my ACT test scores which were carried over from my previous application. I told the lady on the phone this and she said that Wolverine Access shows what is missing, not what you have turned in. Who know, I’m done and I’m glad.

I’m applying ChE COE from MSU with 32 credits by the time I would get there. Current GPA is 3.76 with pretty basic engineering courses. Killer essays, killer resume. However, I do not have the prerequisite classes done (calc 1-4, chem 1&2, ergo 1&2, physics 1&2), so my admissions counselor has stated that my chances are slim for COE.

Has anyone heard of/get accepted to COE without having their prerecs done? We’ll see how it goes… hoping to hear back before spring break (application submitted Jan. 29).

c‌ @wingwenhaha‌ How many credits did you have and to which school did you apply?

when i applied i had 50 credits and within only 32 is transferable.
I applied to LSA as a Economic major…
but along, i do have a score of 92 for the teofl english exam tho. don’t know if that helps

@Michigan95‌ They applied for LSA and Theater.

Anyone hear back yet?

I got rejected today  This were my credentials:
College GPA: 4.0 (32 credits)
SAT: 2120
Highschool GPA: 2.9
And I had tons of social hours
They told me that preference was given to students entering in their junior year.

@kinteriano When did you apply?

@NCXfer‌ January 10 or something like that

@wingwenhaha‌ did you send your highschool GPA and SAT? if so what where they?

ACCEPTED!!! On WA it said view decision and it said I was accepted!!!

Stats:

HS GPA: 3.92
ACT: 26
Fresh at MSU
College GPA: 3.88 (after 1st semester)
40 transferable credits (11 IB, 13 F14, 16 S15)
1 letter of rec

I will also be a sophomore and applied summer term. I do have more credits than an average sophomore transfer but I don’t have junior status. So, the rumor that they only take juniors is not true.
