will post stats later. deferred M&T/Engineering.

does deferral mean that i will still be considered for M&T or does it just mean that i will still be considered for Engineering? did anybody get flat out rejected by a dual degree ED?

Not sure how though…I took a look at many of the applicants who got rejected or deferred and I have to say, some of them had much stronger apps than I did…Plus I’m an Asian Male (Chinese)…

[]Essays: I spent a great deal of time on my essays and really, really poured my heart into them. I researched Penn extensively and added quirky little details in my “Why Penn?” My Common App essay talked about my trip to Thailand this past summer–how it helped me to mature but also softened me and gave me the ability to truly connect with and care about people. The extra essay (pg. 217) was the most personal essay I have ever written. It talked about my relationship with my father, who has been working away from home 80% of my childhood, and how it helped as well as hurt me.
[]Teacher Recs: Strong, I believe. I only read one out of the three, but my Gifted English teacher, who is an admissions expert, wrote one. The second was written by an Honors US History teacher who really liked me; I did some out-of-the-box creative projects in his class, so he may have mentioned those. My last rec was from a Marketing teacher who I got along with really well. I was one of the few kids who did every assignment without complaining and always went the extra mile, and I think she respected me for that.
[]Counselor Rec: Also strong; I filled out an extensive survey about myself and my goals that she used to write the letter, and we get along extremely well.
