@Poeme
It really is a hollistic process at Penn. Theres absolutely no pattern whatsoever on acceptances. But i think the statistics do matter quite a bit, and the people on CC would really love to get an idea on what can get you in Penn. Id love to see how you expressed all those things though.

Essays: Very strong, probably what put me over the top. My Why Penn? was very specific. My autobiography showed my sensitive side that probably was not displayed anywhere else in the app.
Teacher Recs:Good, but possibly generic. I was very close to both teachers.
Counselor Rec: Solid

General Comments/Congratulations/etc:
Already excited about next year! Can’t wait to meet other members of the Class of 2014!

As for the deferred: Don’t worry, there’s still hope. One of my best friends (who I thought was a much stronger applicant) was deferred, but I’m still pulling for him to get in so he can be my roommate. There’s a reason you were deferred, not rejected–they still must have an interest in you.

As for the rejected: School is what you make of it. You don’t need to pay 50k a year to make the most out of an education.

Decision && School: Accepted Wharton!

[/ul]Other Factors: I’m a US diplomat’s daughter so I was accepted as an international student but I’m a US citizen. I think I got accepted because my whole profile was very solid and consistent on me having lived all over the world and really wanting to get involved in different issues in each of the countries I’ve lived in, and the fact that I want to bring my experiences and my diversity to PENN. And I think I also got a little lucky

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: CONGRATS TO ALL THOSE WHO GOT IN I LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU! AND FOR ALL OF THOSE WHO WERE DEFERRED JUST HANG IN THERE!! (remember, each year it all depends on who your competition is, it doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t qualified enough to get in). AND FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET IN, IT’S PROBABLY BECAUSE YOU WILL END UP BEING MUCH HAPPIER SOMEWHERE ELSE (life works in mysterious ways!)

I also posted this in the thread for questions about Penn, but I just wanted to extend my congratulations to those who were accepted to Penn ED. I am a recent graduate of Penn and I had a truly amazing four years. I hope all of you going in are über-excited–Penn’s is an extraordinarily special community and I hope you take advantage of it to the full.

To those who were not accepted, I must join the chorus of others to say that you will certainly find the place that is right for you. I applied EA elsewhere and did not get in, but now looking back, I can’t imagine having spent my four years of college any differently.
