a few deferrals
Penn Hates US

My friend Mike was accepted. GPA was probably 3.9 uw and he was probably top 8% of the class (school does not rank, but Penn adcoms are smart enough to guess where you fall) with mid 2200s SAT. He is an uber legacy with both parents and his sister as penn grads. his hook was probably music (he is kickass at drums). Guess legacy does help.

Damn, I've been trying to get on CC ever since decisions were released... and it has been down! Finally the day after I got on. Well here is the result!

[li] Important ECs:Leader of many organizations, as well as founding several service clubs. Management was my displayed passion...
[/li]

[/ul]Other Factors: When I got deferred from MIT, I thought that ONE weakness (my SAT Verbal) was going to prevent me from getting into any Ivy League... But thank you PENN for looking at my application holistically!

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Advice to future applicants: Work very hard on the application... By that I mean structure your application so it first easy to read and has a certain solid direction. For example, I submitted an extra 3-page resume. However, it wasn't full of junk. I described the management responsbilites i undertook in all the organizations I was involved in. Very straightforward. For the Why Penn essay, I researched all the clubs on campus and talked about how I would become leader on campus of these certain clubs, etc... I think my straightforward, unique approach is what helped me get in.
By the way, I'm wondering what the decisions were for Jsyankees and Wharton411... I saw that paro46 got in (Good for you!).
