Official University of Pittsburgh Class of 2011 Acceptance

Nice stats h20poloer!

Did you call for your interview yet? Are you able to finsih the program in fewer than 8 years?

Congratulations H2Opoloer! Nice stats. What part of Ohio are you from? My D will be starting at Pitt in the fall. We are from northeast Ohio. It's nice to know that there will be some other Ohions there, too.

thanks. im not sure about finishing the BS MD program in less than 8 years, the website was fairly vague in the requirements. I've heard that interviews are in March so thats a decent ways away, also with them only accepting 5 students, I'd be glad to just get in. By the way, Im from northwest Ohio, right on the borders... GO BLUE

Did everyone get their acceptance by mail or was it posted on the application status page on the website?

My D submitted on 10/20 and has not heard yet...

They will mail you a letter. The application status page just tells you if you have anything outstanding that hasn't been turned in yet. Once everything is in it just say that your application is complete. How long has it been since the application was complete? It took about 10-11 days from the time my daughter applied online until her transcript and SAT scores were sent in to complete the application. Then it was another week by the time we found out she was accepted. She applied Oct 12th. They may just have a ton a applications to go through now so it may take longer. I was told on Oct 28th that they already had about 1500 more applications this year than they did at this same time last year. If you know that your application is complete you may want to call or email them and ask if they can give you a time frame.

Hey,

I tried calling for the med school interview, but they said they made a mistake in the letter: Interviews will not start until March and we should not call to schedule an interview until January.

twisteddid:
You might want to check and see if they have everything. They were mysteriously missing my son's SAT scores - even though I had them sent right from College Board.

He applied October 6 and heard Nov 3.

those of you that got into the honors college: after you got your acceptance letters, how long did you have to wait for the honors college stuff to arrive?

Honors college letter was received about a week after acceptance letter...now we're waiting on merit $

Each time I call OAFA, I get a different response; i.e., "they're sending them out"; "don't know"; "in a few weeks"... Today, I was told that merit notices won't go out 'till after "Jan15th" - but we already know that a few students have received scholarships.... What's going on? I can't seem to get a straight answer... Does anyone know exactly how merit $ is distributed besides gpa/scores? Does it depend upon which school the student applied? Has anyone else tried to call OAFA? I'd be interested in knowing what other responses people have gotten... Thanks!

Merit scholarships are being handed out already. I just recieved one a few days ago, although it is a small one. Mine arrived about a week after I got my honors college packet. They do seem to be highly dependant on GPA/scores.

My advice is to just wait. I think January 15th is the deadline for them sending out if you are going to be interviewed for the Chancellor's Scholarship(You can only apply if you receive a Chancellor's Nominee Scholarship). If you don't receive one within a month of getting your acceptance letter I wouldn't count on getting one.

my best guess is that each thing is done by a different department...judging from the computer that answers when you call the admissions office that directs you to different people.

Some people have posted that they've gotten they're admissions letter with a statement that tells them that their honors college stuff will arrive later.

Mine didn't have that. It just said "welcome to the college of arts and sciences" with no hint that more info was coming my way. A week later I got a merit scholarship letter w/ a paragraph saying that said that the honors college info will arrive later.

My honors college stuff still hasn't arrived.

I think everything comes in a different order for different applicants just cuz of bureaucracy.

I tend to agree that it doesn't seem like the left hand knows what the right hand is doing. My D got a letter for an interview for guaranteed grad school and when my daughter called they kind of acted like they didn't know what she was talking about and then said that they weren't ready to do that yet when the letter specifically said they would be interviewing from Nov 2006 to Mar 2007. I hope this is no indication how everything else runs there or this could be a long 4 years. Maybe they are just swamped with apps this year and it is slowing the whole process down. I hope everyone hears something soon. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.

thanks weenie - my D got her letter yesterday, she is thrilled - PITT is her first choice.

got my $$ letter today...full tuition, and in the running for some other nice scholarships. got my honors stuff last week, acceptance the week before.

Finally got my full tuition $$$$.
Good luck to all my competitors for chancellor's/

Accepted
I am happy as Pitt is one of my backup school

GPR: 3.4 UW, 3.9 W
act:25

is there a way to post more Ec's than spaces listed on the application?

when i submitted my essay---i put by resume underneath it

oo...smart.....like in the same document just on a different page?

I got an acceptance, a full tuition offer, and an honors college packet (each sent separately), and while I'm thrilled with all of this, I'm confused as to why I haven't received anything about the Guaranteed Medical Program. I meet all the requirements (ranked top 1%, SAT math+ verbal is 1480, and I sent in an essay with my app about working in a research lab), and I followed the instructions of marking "pre-medicine" as my intended major. Do you think I'll receive something about it soon or should I call or something?
