***Official University of Pittsburgh Medical Guarantee***

@TheChance, I applied on Nov. 22 and just got an e-mail and letter today for the invitation to apply, as well as the full tuition scholarship…hopefully yours will come soon.

I applied for undergrad at the beginning of October and I received my invitation to apply to GAP a few weeks later. First you get a letter in the mail with some information about it which also says you need to look out for the email that they’ll send you for login for the app site. I didn’t get the email (nor was it in my spam), but I emailed them (the address was on the letter) and they resent me the letter. I hope that helps!

Roughly how many hours of volunteering at a hospital do you need to be a competitive applicant?

Also, do all your ECs have to be medical related?

Thanks!

Also, what is the REQUIRED GPA in HIGH SCHOOL to get into the program?

I got the email to apply for GAP today – but I applied to the university on December 4. So, that December 1 deadline to apply isn’t set in stone.

So…I got a letter today inviting me to apply but I definitely did not have the scores to even be considered for this program. I’m wondering what this is all about lol and is it even worth applying with the scores I have? I definitely don’t want to waste time knowing I most likely will be rejected…

Does having a 3.9 High school GPA but two parent legacy (one who is a distinguished alumnus) hel?p

Shareezy, I think that the reason no one is answering your questions is because we have NO WAY of knowing.

If you can’t find out from an admissions counselor, the web site, or a current student, then its likely something that random people on a forum would not know.

If your 3.9 is weighted, that’s really weak, but unweighted, it’s okay (I think).

Legacy would not work for a combined program.

I know that this is subjective but would you choose this GAP program along with a full ride for 4 years of undergraduate college at UPitt or Harvard (with no financial aid)?

As a parent I would tell you to go to UPitt with a full ride if you are certain about medical school. If you are parents are well off and can afford 250k for harvard education, then you should make full use of it if you are not certain about medicine. Medical school costs you money no matter where you go. So getting a free undergrad to save money for medicine is worthwhile financially and you do have to work pretty hard in undergrad to make the cut into a top 15 medical school.

Any interview notifications or preliminary numbers?

Your completed application will be reviewed and you will be notified by the 2nd week of February if you have been invited to interview. A hard copy of the invitation letter will follow the email notification. This letter will contain all the information that you will need in order to organize your visit to the School of Medicine for your interview. The interviews will be conducted during the weeks beginning March 1 and March 26

It looks like we won’t find out until February.

I WANT TO KNOWWWWWWW. did anyone else apply for the chancellor’s scholarship?

donny123:

I have just recently received an interview for the Guaranteed Admit Program (aka BS/MD program) at the University of Pittsburgh. Could you recall the questions that were asked during your interview? What was the focus of the interview? What questions did you think were tough? What questions would you say you definitely have to prepare an answer for prior to the interview?

In other words, if you could please tell me all you remember about your interviews, it would really help me prepare for my interview. I am very very passionate about attending the University of Pittsburgh as a part of this program.

Thanks a lot.

@collegegoer,
how were you notified? phone? email? snail-mail?
Good luck at your interview! Hopefully I’ll have the chance to see you there!

bump. Anyone get the invitation?

Nothing yet.

I was notified via the GAP app website. I hope I’ll see you there as well.

“You have not yet been invited to schedule an interview.”
That’s what it says on the GAP site for me… grrr. They said by the 2nd week of February. Tomorrow is officially the 1st day of the 2nd week.
