My D got her merit email today, it said if you applied for FA (yes) then that would be another email coming soon. She got the Wilder Trustee Scholarship for $19K.

Oh, and she received her acceptance letter on the 16th. She had a 34 ACT single sitting, 3.8 uw GPA, 6 APs (AP Scholar), lots and lots of music ECs which included community service plus lots of other ECs as well as two years as a summer intern at a biomedical research facility.

MDMom606, that is awesome, congrats. It does worry me that you got the merit letter so close to acceptance. I received acceptance on Friday, 3/15 and so far nothing on merit (not worried about FA, know i will get zero).

got a $14,000 scholarship

DS accepted one week ago today and received email today with 15k Presidential Scholarship. He did not apply for financial aid. We are out of state but visited three times. DS is soooo happy!

accepted!

2220 sat 3.8 gpa

I got an email about a merit scholarship today, Wilder Trustee Scholarship @ 17,000. 2070 SAT, 34 ACT, rest of my stats are on page 4. I was really happy and it looks like, as long as I get a decent need-based financial aid package, I’ll be going to UoR

My web portal still says my application is in review… anyone else?

Mine actually says in review too, and I saw a couple of other people say that as well. Seems like their website is updating slower than…the mail? haha, odd, but you’re not the only one.

@sdi (sorry i didn’t want to say ur usernmae, it sounded mean XD) yah mine hasn’t updated either. looks like myRoc is slower than snail mail.

How generous are they with need based aid?
I got an 11,000 IB scholarship, but that won’t even come close to cutting down tuition.

From their aid estimators, it seems they are very generous. But can’t always trust those.

Update: Just found out I got a 17K merit scholarship! Stats are on page 5. Rochester was probably the only school I was REALLY anxious to hear back from, so this is nice news. :)

Just received an acceptance in the mail today! :]
I’m excited, but unfortunately, will be unable to attend unless the financial aid offer is excellent. I am anxiously waiting for more information now.

Only got $11K merit aid from Rochester. Most likely not going.

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I am a unique applicant in context on my school. My acceptance is a testament to the fact that URochester definitely looks beyond SAT scores. It is, however, imperative that everything else is stellar.

General Comments: Excited to have URochester as one of my college options :)

@SirCadogan, mad props on your username. If we both end up at UR, let’s hang out.

@stupiddorkyidiot: Haha, thank you! How likely do you think it is you’ll end up going? So far it’s the best option I’ve got, and I think I’d really enjoy it there, but I have to wait for FA (though they say they meet full need) and I’m not sure how I feel about upstate NY…and there are a few other schools I’m waiting on as well.

Of the schools I’ve been accepted to already, it’s my top choice. I’ve been looking into it and think I’d really enjoy the vibe, but I did apply to a bunch of reach schools which I’m still waiting on. The moment of truth comes next Thursday… And yes, the finaid will be a big factor in my decision.

Hey, looks like we’re both CA girls. Are you as scared about NY weather as I am? :D
