@Transfer20I3: Blow US out of the pool? I think you’re one of those people that’s blowing out everyone else. As always, a strong essay is key, and hoepfully that’s how the admissions comittee feels. I really like your chances. Especially since Pepperdine said yes.

haha they didn’t say yes it’s just i feel thats my safety school but thank you I guess I’m just really nervous lol never thought I would go to college x]

@silverrex and crownofthesea Do you guys think a lot of changes on my app would look bad when they review it? I for sure am going to change my major to Business Admin and I still can’t decide on my second one (either something in Dornslife or Annenberg) Do you guys know if Dornslife needs a B in WRIT 130 since Annenberg does? I completed the course at my CC but I got a C so I am trying to take it again at Davis but the classes are all full for the Spring quarter. If possible, I can still add the class now but then I would have to drop one of my classes right now since 22 units is way too much for me. Do you guys think I should take the risk of waiting and see if I can get the class in Spring quarter? There are only 3 sections btw. If I get to add the class now, I would have to tell USC of another change in my application. Also, since I know USC accepts people in the Spring term for the following year for people who are required to take some coursework, I don’t know if that might happen to me if I do get in and they may ask me to complete the course. I also don’t know if Davis offers the course in the Summer or my CC does. Thanks!!!

I’m confused what you mean by changes … you have already submitted your app no ? declaring your major choices … ? you may be able to change once you get in no ? Also correct me if I’m wrong the semester courses listed on the common app don’t really matter because **** happens no ? Like if i listed all these classes I was planning on taking for spring and I end up taking a total different list, that really doesn’t matter does it ? For example I list Micro econ a few music and arts but I actually end up taking PE , welding and Ceramics it won’t really matter, will it? as long as you have all the pre reqs you need before spring sem. Just curious cause I also listed a crap load of classes that I will for sure drop depending on whether I like the Prof or not.

@transfer2013 if you are referring to my post, yes I did. I emailed my admin counselor at SC and if I want to change majors, she said I need to email her a statement of my new first and second choice majors. Well, doesn’t USC when they look over the app, consider what you are applying for in terms of majors? I’m thinking that some colleges have different processes than others. Well, it might matter since the courses that I am going to take in the spring are under USC’s GE reqs. I already completed all of USC’s GE’s but I got a C in English, which is the one that translates to WRIT 130 and the course under the first category. And I’m in the quarter system so my quarter will end around middle of June…

OPINIONS: Which college do you guys think is best for me? I know Marshall for sure since I want to do business but I’m scared I won’t get in bc of my low stats. Annenberg or Dornslife? All I know is that I want to go into a career in business…Quick stat: College gpa is 3.0 currently.

If I’m not mistaken, you have to report any changes on your application. USC expects that you are taking/will be taking those classes and not a different class regardless if it is fulfilling the same GE requirement.

Is it easier to transfer from a 4 year private institution or a Junior college?

Also, I heard if you transfer from a 4 year institution the writing requirement can be waived and if not waived, you are just required to take it at USC. Is this true?

i heard it’s easier from a community college to transfer … especially one within the state

Hello Everyone,

I’m applying as a Junior transfer from a CCC for Marshall Business (first choice) and Economics (second choice).

My cumulative GPA is 3.66
I have a massive upward trend…when i first started CC a few years ago, i took two classes and got an “F” and a “B”… next quarter i got 2 B’s…next quarter i got 2 A’s and 2 B’s…then i got 2 A’s and a B…then i got 3 A’s… another 3 A’s…and my most recent quarter(fall) i got another 3 A’s.
So i think that i have a pretty nice looking upward trend?
I have also taken Micro and Macro Econ (got an A and a B…)
Along with Accounting I (got an A), and im taking II and III in the upcoming quarters.

The thing is, i don’t have any internships, but i have a few EC’s like being a volunteer tennis coach, team captain for my HS tennis team, business club at my CC, playing intercollegiate tennis at my CC, and working at a cafe in my area…

I like to think i wrote passionate essays as well…

I am on the quarter system and i have been taking about 3 classes per quarter… I’m not sure if thats enough of a load do you guys’ think?

Also, do you guys know if they even take my second choice major into account if they decline me from Marshall? will they really consider entering me into Econ?

Any input or response is greatly appreciated!
Good luck to the rest of you!!
We got this!

@markfoti100 hmmmm I’m just worried about your F … with the F included your gpa is 3.66 ? how is that possible … if you had 60 units and got all A’s and just 1 F your gpa would be a 3.6 - 3.7 …

@transfer I don’t think it’s easier to get in from an instate community college. I think USC is just more friendly with transfer credits from cccs. I would assume USC would weigh an equal gpa from a 4 year higher than that from 2 year. They probably know ranked 4 years are more demanding vs a cc.

Hi. For professor’s recommendation, do professors have to hand write it and mail it to the admission’s office? is there any way to do it online? I’m applying to five schools and I would feel sorry to make them handwrite it 5 times…LOL

^ they can type it and print it on school letter head paper.

Furthermore, if you’re applying to schools using the Common App, they can just copypasta a ton of stuff.

@SilverRex

Thanks so much for the reply! USC is one of my top choices and I hope a hear good news

Hey guys, I am pretty much freaking out on whether or not I am going to get into USC or any UC because I didn’t do too well Fall 2012. I had a 3.7 gpa overall but than last fall I got my first W in calc based physics (which is not even required for my major) and I got my first C ever. I ended up finishing my other two classes with B’s. I am a biology major and now have an overall gpa of 3.4. I am also in Phi Theta Kappa and I have taken honor classes. I also finished a pre dental program at UCLA and mentioned that in my essay which I probably shouldn’t have since USC and UCLA are rivals… ooopsy.

Any feedback would be great

Hi Everyone,
I have my application complete and financial aid said I only need my parents 2012 tax form filled out. When I checked it said it had to be off their filed taxes. They will have them completed next week. However, now when I check it says it doesn’t need anything from me. Is that because I applied last year and filed the financial forms from last year and they can see the numbers are very similar to this year or did they make a mistake? Should I call and ask why they are not asking for that form now?

Thanks!

@SilverRex

Awesome man. I am applying to Annenberg for Communication. I wanted to major in film but I decided to go with communication. Are there pre-requisites for a film minor? Can I finish it in two years? And can we take production classes or is just film history/theory stuff?

Also, what are your thoughts on the communication major? Are the classes worthwhile? Have you had an internship? Thoughts on other students, professors, facilities, perception of a comm major by other students with other majors?

Thanks

@mbark

They may ask for your spring grades in your case to make up their mind.
