Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

@that1guyy where did u read that

That’s not true. People get accepted without getting a spring grade request. And people don’t even start getting spring grade requests until decisions start coming out

Sent from my DROID4 using CC

@that1guy well I don’t know where you read that but I don’t expect to receive a SGR … I will however have to send a final transcript when and if I do get accepted … Just being optimistic that I wont receive one because then I can slack off a little =]

DOOOOOOOOOOM We’re all going to slack off in our Spring semester than the SGR come and they deny us all! DOOOOOOOM!

cries

Hey everybody! I’ve posted in here before and I hope you are all doing well. Stay focused on school and before you know it we will know our decisions! I was curious to know if anyone else got the request for winter grades? I am on the quarter system so it makes sense, just got it this morning. Good luck everyone!

@Aelan15- did you receive an email and a letter asking for your winter grades or just an email?
I’m on the semester system and haven’t received anything from USC besides an email after I sent my application

@uscco2016- Just an email so far, it was sent around midnight. However, USC connect does say that a message has been sent about my winter grades. That could be referring to the email I have received or an additional letter I will be receiving in the mail. I will update you guys if I get a letter in the mail as well.

I guess it’s a good sign that someone has heard something even if it isn’t a spring grade request.

do we need to turn in a mi-term report if were on semesters?

@jr2013 i don’t think so. I called admissions a few weeks ago asking if they want/ will accept them and they said no.

as I recall, the mid-term report is only for freshmen applicants

Recieving SGR is based more on number of units you have obtained so far (I believe). The first time I applied to USC I got a SRG, thought it was a good sign that they were still interested and was later rejected. Don’t read too much into it.

how many units did u have? @lilly1234

I’m applying to USC as a Business Major. I am taking 19 semester units this semester, so I am pretty much maxed out on units. I’m getting all As, but I have an D in Calculus. However, I am also taking Business Calculus, which I believe I will get an A in. My last semester GPA was a 4.0, and comparatively, this semester will be a major drop because of that D. If I have 4 As, one of them being Business Calculus, and 1 D in the regular Calculus class, how bad could that possibly harm my chances of getting into USC?

YoDaddyBarry as I am sure you know the Business program at USC is one of the better ones on the west coast so admissions is very competitive. A failing grade in something as crucial to business as math will definitely hurt your chances if admissions are deciding between you and a handful of other candidates. Otherwise given that you have all A’s, I wouldn’t completely rule out the possibility of acceptance into USC, but maybe lower your expectations into getting into the business school the first time around. I wish you luck!

Hi guyz! Good to hear that people are getting winter grade requests ! I sent mine in March anyways just for kicks. Anyways, have you all been able to click on (well this is at least what I have) "satisfactory academic progress under eligibility checks and “initial documentation” under application started and get little messages? I just noticed that I was able to do this. And then also did you guys have to send in 2012 parent tax returns for verification?

^ and this is all under the financial aid status check page.

@chloe316 i have no idea what you’re talking about… i just checked my us connect

ya sorry it was kind of cryptic. It’s all under the financial aid tab on usconnect and then if you click on financial aid status check you should find 3 categories: eligibility checks, application started and application in review. And under eligibility checks it says satisfactory academic progress and under app started it has initial documentation. For the first time I have been able to click on satisfactory academic progress and initial documentation and little messages show up that explain what it means. At least that is what I have in my fin aid status check box. #imreallybored

@chloe316 yeaaa i need to still send my parents taxes but i called the financial aid office and they said they hav no due date or deadline for incoming students to turn those in
