I don’t understand why everyone WANTS an SGR … o.O is it just me that’s hoping I don’t receive one?

Ok I’m brand new to this forum, so forgive me if this has been answered. I see lots of people talking about SGRs… any feedback from people on the quarter system? I got a request for winter grades (in the form of a missing document notification), any idea if they usually want spring grades as well?

@Transfer2OI3 I think it’s because if you get a SGR, they are at least showing SOME interest in you. It’s better than being rejected outright! Those are my reasons for wanting one. :P

yeaa i dont think people really want sgr’s but they just really want conformation that theyre application is being looked at right now

Hey guys, I’m a little bit worried about my math requirement for Marshall. I never took calculus and I know it’s a requirement. Is it possible that I’ll still be admitted to a different school where I can fulfill the math requirement? Or would USC consider it if I took it over the summer? I’m pretty worried.

@keignat

Are you sophomore transfer or junior? I imagine they’d be more lenient with sophomore transfer requirements.

I’m a junior transfer insofar as I have 60+ credits, but I’d imagine a good number of them won’t transfer and that I’ll be admitted as a sophomore. I’m assuming in that case that I’ll be accepted to Dornsife instead of Marshall? I have a lot of requirements for the business program finished-writing, several accounting classes, economics…but not calculus! Stupid me, I took some “business mathematics” classes instead (this was during my first two semesters) which did have calculus in them but I’m sure won’t transfer. I’m pretty okay with being accepted as a sophomore to Dornsife, but of course my nightmare is that Marshall gets my application and rejects me for failing to fill my calc requirement and then I’m never even considered for admission elsewhere at USC.

Felling a bit pessimistic today about my chances.

@xthaiboxer, I feel you. But when I feel that way I tell myself that if I had never tried I’d never know! Let’s just hope for the best.

What schools are you guys applying too? ^^ Stats?

Hi all, first post here, though I’ve been stalking this thread relentlessly.

Has anyone heard back at all? I checked through my texts just now and my best friend who got accepted to Dornslife last year got her package on April 28th (6 days from now!!!). Seems odd to me that nobody’s really gotten any SGRs yet…

@xthaiboxer, same here My boyfriend keeps trying to convince me that he’s 10000000% sure I got in (don’t know off of what basis) but I keep having random panic attacks and just crying about how I won’t get into USC. He’s pretty tired of me now, lol.

@alaintran9, USC or bust! Haha, if I don’t get in I’m screwed D:

@uscgirlclassof15 I meant which school as in which school within USC! LOL what are your stats if you don’t mind answering?

Got my acceptance letter from Chapman, but they only offered $12k in merit money. C’mon USC!!!

@alaintran9, ohhhh. I attended a transfer workshop awhile back and they told me I could list several other majors as my third, fourth, or even fifth choice majors, so I put down several. Communications (Annenberg), Public Relations (Annenberg), English (Dornslife), Psychology (Dornslife), International Relations (Dornslife), Creative Writing (Dornslife).

GPA: 3.4~3.6 (most of my creds wont transfer, so an est. 3.2 afterward maybe?)
ECs: Worked on 4-year university’s newspaper as an editor, some good intern offers which I am taking this upcoming summer, church stuff, high school newspaper editor.

I had two good rec letters and one phenomenal letter. Essays were average.

@RandomNewGuy, congrats on Chapman :)

Thanks. Really waiting for USC, but it’s nice to have options. Just waiting on USC and Pitzer. Still leaning towards Cal State (of my acceptance letters), to be honest - even with Chapman.

@RandomNewGuy Congrats on Chapman! I received 12k from their Trustee Scholarship and then 11k in Chapman Grant. Still really waiting on SC also.

@Animati0n just a guess, but did you apply for animation?

Hey guys,

I’m not transferring this year (freshmen), but I’m contemplating whether or not to transfer to USC next year for business. I got a couple of questions and hopefully you guys can give me some assistance.

I’m on the quarter system and for the first 2 quarters, I’ve taken GE’s and some communication classes (was going to transfer to another school and do PR, not sure now). I did take a Micro Econ class, in which I received a B- in. After this quarter, I’ll have 3 categories of the GE requirement done along with the writing requirement. By the end of the upcoming fall quarter, I’ll have business Calc done along with the rest of the GEs and will finish the accounting classes by the end of the school year.

So, couple questions:

USC doesn’t require undergrad transfer to do Econ anymore, but would they look down on my transcript if I did receive a B- since it is a major-related class?

Would completing the recommended accounting classes by the end of the very last quarter be a bad thing?

Sorry if I’m bothering any of you; I know you’re all nervous but I hope you guys all get in! Fight on!

@Spiffyb0i, This is my OPINION, but the B- can’t be good. For students trying to add Marshall or Internal Transfers to get into Marshall its required that you pass ECON 351 with at least a B, some people still get rejected with B.

I was admitted into Marshall without finish any accounting classes. I took all of them here. So i don’t think it will affect your decision. To graduate u only need a C of better in your accounting classes.

@smalone3d, however did you guess? ;)

Yes, I applied for the School of Cinematic Arts, animation & digital art major.

Anyone else on here for SCA?
