from USC admission’s twitter (3 hours ago): “Hang in there, transfer applicants! We haven’t forgotten about you. We’re still reviewing applications & will notify you by June 3.”

not sure if this is reassuring because they haven’t forgotten or torture because of the June 3

@HelloG Macro and Micro Econ aren’t actually required for Marshall; this is what the site says (Marshall transfer from my ccc)

**As of fall 2010, microeconomics and macroeconomics are no longer required for admission to the Marshall School of Business. Revisions to the
undergraduate curriculum require an intermediate economics sequence to be completed at USC, in residence.

Still, would it look bad?

Also, the site says that as long as I have “B’s” in my GEs I should be competitive for transfer (I should have around a 3.7 after this quarter along with 1-2 more quarters to boost it up). Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

Yeah June 3 is ridiculous. Don’t they know we applied to other schools and the world doesn’t revolve around USC? I’m going to request in Mid May probably to review my application first as I have other universities that want ot hear back by June 1st (if I have not heard back already of course). I hope they won’t wait that long though.

haha i feel like putting in a request though theyd be insulted by kinda. especially if your like i have other schools waiting for my choice…i feel they would be like let me make that choice for you rejection

^^ Haha good point. Besides I think almost everybody is in the same boat. The UC deadline is June 1st, so a lot of people will have that issue. And they can’t give everyone priority

@Spiffyb0i i would think so. It’s like when people think that only transferable coursework matters. But it’s not as if the admissions counselor don’t see those grades. It still affect their decision. For Marshall, those counselors reject students with B’s in the calculus based Economics courses all the time. Does that mean in my opinion if u get a B in calc. it hurts to admissions chances? IMO Yes. Last semester a friend of mine received an SGR, he was taking 18 units, got A’s in all of classes but B in Business Calculus. He was rejected.

This is just my opinion from past exp. I am not trying to offend anyone, or be discouraging and I’m not saying you wont get in or anything. All I’m saying is if i saw it, it’s not like it wont be a factor in my decision.

Am I the only one concerned with financial aid if accepted? I mean USC is stupid expensive lol. Let’s just say I haven’t exactly been happy with my other aid/loan packages from my other schools I’ve been accepted to so far…and those were HALF the price of USC. Idk guys USC might do me a favor by rejecting me, because I just don’t see myself wanting to graduate with 100,000 in loans lol.

@HelloG Yeah I understand. Even though it’s not a required transfer class and I still have to take it there if accepted, it’s still a major-related class and it will probably have an effect. If you don’t mind me asking, but did you get any B’s in your major-related classes or GEs?

@Spiffyb0i, yeah in few of my GE’s. But in my econ and math classes nope. Well there was a B in discrete math. But thats not business math, its for computer science. At the end of the day, its too late to change any of your grade now. Just do the best u can do. I am sure Upward trend will heavily weigh into process. and a 3.7 GPA is very good (better than mine). Just do the best you can and spend some time working on your essay. Im sure u’ll get in! Fight On!

@tomred … If memory serves, I think USC claims to meet full financial need (although that includes Stafford loans), so they will work with you if you demonstrate need and they want you as a student. I have a pre-determined figure for debt I am willing to take on for the next couple of years at a four-year school, but USC is the only university that my fiancee and I feel okay about being flexible with due to the strong alumni network and post-degree opportunities. Make the decision that works for you.

Hi everyone! I’ve been following this thread since August and finally created an account. Does anybody know if USC holds extra spots in classes for transfer students like UC’s do? I transfer as Biochemistry, and one class that I absolutely have to get this fall is full. It’s a 4 semester sequence and If I want to graduate in 2 years I need it now. Thanks for help.
