Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

I dont kno how much letters of rec help. ive heard its nice to have them but they are not everything

@JR2013 Yeah for Marshall they aren’t required but recommended. But the one letter I had was from my HS counselor that I’ve kept in touch with since freshman year of HS

do you guys have something called The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) at your university? I got an invitation and I don’t know what to do because the deadline to join is May 8 and the fee is $95. Apparently benefits include “access to nearly half a million dollars in scholarships; internship, career and leadership development resources; national community service initiatives; study abroad programs; special discounts; and many more experiences designed to help [me] succeed in college and beyond!” and across the US there are nearly a million members.

Probably not the smartest thing to do but I’ve already been opting out of so many other organizations and opportunities at my school because I was just so set on transferring. Now i’m finally like what /if/ I really do get rejected or somehow am not able to go? aslkdjskdjskldk.

I wish we could pay to rush our decision lol.

@alaintran9 I applied to Marshall.

@Dm1993 Stats if I may ask?

@bubbletea94 AMEN. If they see my literal tears of anxiety will they get back to me quicker?

but this thread is keeping me sane. I’m just trying to focus on doing really well this semester just in case I get a SGR which I probably will since I’m a sophomore transfer. We got this.

at the end of the day if u have an honestly decent gpa its the luck of the draw u really never know

@veeyepea lol. same here! but my motivation is slowly but surely crashing and burning lol…always happens in the spring semester, especially when I can just taste summer right around the corner. this whole semester I’ve been really good and if I can keep it up I might be looking at a 4.0 but I could easily ruin that with the flood of tests next week and then finals the week after T_T ah well, positive thoughts. good luck to everyone on the rest of the school year! may we kick finals in the derriere.

@alaintran9

Stats:
GPA: 3.80 (including a B- in engineering and a B- in chemistry from my 1st semester of college, neither of which will transfer, but a 4.0 outside of that)
ECs: NCAA division one college football player at Virginia Tech, 2 month internship at Fannie Mae, member of Virginia Tech Honors college

Marshall reqs completed: Calc, English Comp 2, Financial Accounting (A’s in all)
Marshall reqs to be completed this semester: Managerial Accounting (will get an A)
Already taken: all other GEs and microeconomics and macroeconomics (A’s in all)

@dm1993 You shouldn’t be worrying at all!

@alaintran9 I appreciate the support but I still have plenty of doubt. You never know what admissions is going to do

@Dm1993 You’re in good shape unless you didn’t do well on your essay which i assume you did very well. :)

I agree with you

Does anyone know how USC decides how many applicants they will accept. I know at UC’s they have an agreement with the state to accept CC students and they plan ahead for that. And at some privates, they don’t plan ahead but rather base it off of the retention rate of the class.

@bubbletea I got an invite to that organization earlier in the semester. I definitely was skeptical because of the membership fee and all. It was nice to be recognized and get an invitation though, haha.

does anyone know how long it takes for usc to process docs? they asked for my winter grades and i sent them in april 2 and so far on uscconnect, it still says they are asking for them?? O.o ugh i reallllyyyy need to hear back from usc bc one of my colleges that I got into their date is may 1 :|

@iloveasianguys I send a electronic transcript in the beginning of April and it was received in a couple days (showed up on USConnect). I imagine if you send it via mail it will take longer as they have to process it and what-not. But I’m not entirely sure.

And I’m in the same boat. I have to submit my intent to enroll/housing deposit to another school by May 1st. Most likely we won’t hear from USC by then. In that case, we’ll have to pay the fees for the other school to save our spot… Just to be safe since we don’t know if we’ll be accepted to USC. Really disappointing to have to spend money that may go wasted but better safe than sorry!

I sent an*** electronic transcript

Hello, all! I received an email from my USC counselor asking if I would consider pursuing another major if I am not admitted into either of the two programs I applied for (Film & TV Production and Broadcast/Digital Journalism). Of course, I replied with the alternate program I would pursue. Has anyone else gotten a similar email? Any ideas on what this could mean? Good or bad sign? I was also asked for my winter grades a while back, and they were recently received via mail and are still being processed.

Btw, this thread is awesome. I just found it, and it has already answered a ton of my questions.

@cescaler Sounds pretty frikken awesome to me! Sounds like they really like you as an applicant and would hate to see you thrown into the rejection pile just bc those two schools are ridiculously competitive.

Idk that’s just my two cents.
