The USC transfer thread for 2013 has been awesome for me. I got a lot of advice and it was a great place to go when I felt I needed some answers or just someone else who was going through what I was going through - trying to transfer to USC.

Good news is I am going to USC in the Fall 2013! I see that people are already writing on the 2013 transfer thread about 2014 transfers so I thought I'd start a thread for all of you. I'll try to help where I can.

that1guy - Some people may know they want to transfer even before starting their freshman year, I did. I went to cc with the goal of transferring as a sophomore to USC. Every class I took had to transfer to USC and I had certain classes I had to take to be able to transfer as a sophomore. I took the classes and earned a 3.9 and will go to USC this fall. People have already started asking questions about 2014 on the 2013 thread.
So here’s the thread if anyone needs it.
Enjoy your summer!!

I was actually desperately awaiting the start of this thread after following all the inspirational stories in the 2013 transfer thread. Katie617, thank you very much for starting this thread off, and I wish you the best of luck at USC this fall!

I’m waiting until august 1st, when the new common app comes out before i start working on my essays. What essay topics do you guys think are the best for your essay? When do you guys think would be the ideal time to submit your app? Should I submit it as early or as late as possible?

I plan on submitting my application sometime in December. I want my fall semester grades, so everything can go out at the same time. With that being said, I’ve heard of some people who were accepted who turned their application in on the deadline date, as well as others who where not accepted who turned theirs in as early as they could. Its a guessing game.

As far as the Common App essay goes however, I’m hearing from others that it will remain the same as last year. “Your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve”. So I’m starting on that now to get an early start, and allow more time for my USC supplemental material.

Haha these threads always start early =] it’s a good thing. Good luck to you all! Getting accepted is the best feeling ever. My advice … don’t half@ss your application, and even if you put in your application early I don’t think it makes a difference of when you get your decision. I applied Feb 1st got my decision May 7th. Also from what many counselors at USC told me they look mostly at GPA and essay for Transfers, The EC portion isn’t to heavily weighed upon. Other than that GOOD LUCK ! FIGHT ON !

@sedulousaeris Umm i heard that there will be a brand new common app update and that the students applying for 2014 may have 5 essay prompts and will be opted out for the extra circular activities writing. The ec writing will be included in the each schools supplements if need be but no longer on the new common app.

Well in the case of the confusing New Common App I guess the best thing to do right now for all of us is to wait for it’s release on Aug 1. Less than a month to go. :(

I’m am also going to be applying to transfer to USC next fall!
Just thought I’d say hi, as I am probably going to be in this thread a lot over the next few months!

@harry 188 when the common app comes out I will start my apps. I’m waiting for any changes SC has to there supplement. I’ll start on August 1st and submit it in January when I have all my grades that way i can submit all the things at one time. If I submit and finish all the prereqs by december I wont get SGR’d.
