Thanks anyways. So how will you know for sure if your credits are transferable? Just check the Gen Ed?

^Check USC’s articulation with your current school here:[USC ARR : Articulation](http://www.usc.edu/dept/ARR/articulation/)

If you’re school isn’t listed, you can talk to a counselor at your school about it, or maybe ask a USC admissions counselor.

The Countdown begins fellow hopefuls the Common app 4 comes out on August 1st. hopefully SC don’t change their requirements.

What do you guys think is a competitive gpa from the lowest starting point that they consider for a business major applicant to Marshall?

@harry188 I would say above a 3.5, the lowest a 3.4 to be competitive. Most of the people I have seen on previous threads had above well above a 3.5 along with EC’s. It’s pretty competitive nowadays so the higher the GPA the better.

on some of the other threads I have looked at the average GPA at Marshall is 3.7-3.8. So I would aim for as close to that as possible. In 2012 they had 8,275 transfer apps 2,770 Admission Offers 3.6 average GPA university wide. Being that Marshal is one of the most popular schools here you should aim for at least a 3.7. and make sure that you stand out as an applicant with a stellar essay and some decent EC’s to make you stand out if you are lacking the GPA.

@stanx89 ya thanks bro I have a 3.6 now trying to raise it to a 3.7 this fall but in leaving calc for spring. I think my ec are pretty good though, but we just have to wait and see

I would recommend taking Calc right now or else they will spring grade you and make you possibly wait until mid July for an admission decision. This is just a suggestion though. You can take care of the ACCT class in spring since it’s not required just recommended.

Do you think a 3.7 will be good for Political Science?

curious if anyone knows how this works…
i have a 3.24 gpa as pre economics at ucsb (67 quarter units) but probably have to take a medical leave this year and take CC classes, if I were to get a 4.0 this year with 30 semester credits, how would my gpa be looked at and/or calculated. i really have no idea. and does being a legacy count for anything? both my parents and went to usc…

@harry188 For marshall and all other schools besides SCA and Thorton students will be considered having a COMPETITIVE gpa around 3.6-3.8. But i’ve seen students get in with 3.3, very rare but still possible. This year transfer rates for USC was at its lowest, below 30% with an average gpa of 3.6-3.7. Also taking your calc and writing requirements before spring will always be better because you might not be asked an SGR unless you are a sophomore transfer.

@harry did you apply out of high school?

@uscmaybe no I’m at transfer from a community college

Did u apply as a sophmore transfer?

@Korsgaurd I’m applying this fall as a sophomore

Oh. Do you know if AP credits can count towards the 30 transferable credit policy at usc?

@Korsgaurd it depends I’m not sure how it works if you apply as a se

@korsgaard It would probably be better if you asked a USC counselor. They would know better than any of us on here. You have been asking this question for quite awhile on this forum just ask a counselor so it can put you at ease.

@stanx I won’t be applying as a transfer for another year…I’m going to be applying as a freshman for 2014 addmisions but I have a feeling I won’t get in:/, so I’m sort of preparing myself to transfer
