@fdominguez Yeah I had that too, but I was never out of school…
The only thing I can think of is that I went on a student exchange, but it shows up on my transcript as a outside the district school, and I still got grades and everyhing.
But if everyone got that, maybe it’s normal and says you didn’t have any gaps or something??

Chance me, please!
Transferring to USC from UNC-Chapel Hill as a first year (will be sophomore next year)
GPA: 3.57
EC’s: 2, I hold a leadership position in one of them
Major: undecided
Credits: 35
High school GPA: 4.6 weighted; 3.8 unweighted
SAT: 1780
ACT: 26
What I’m worried about is that I got a B+ in LFIT, which is college gym. Does that look really bad?

EDIT: I have only completed 19 credits, and am currently taking 16.

@Anxietyiskilling - Wow, you remind me of myself to be honest!

Last year when I was a freshman, I took 19 hours in the 1st semester and 16 hours in the second semester! Plus, my ACT was also a 26. The difference is that you went to a well-ranked school and I went to a CC and your HS stats are better.

I made it a priority to increase my ACT score, and I was successful in increasing it to a 30. If you had a 29+, I would say you have a really good chance. But that ACT score is really pulling you down. I don’t mean to discourage you and you could very well get in.

A B+ is not bad in my opinion.

@fdominguez - Bro, you honestly have nothing to worry about. In my book, you’re definitely getting in. If there’s anyone who has to worry about not getting in, it’s me.

Like you said though, it would be nice if they would just take all of us.

Dear USC Admissions,

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE US ALL!

Sincerely,
Desperate Forum Stalkers

@anxietyiskilling, I’m instate for UNC and was planning on applying there as well. Why do you want to transfer?

@NCXfer nothing wrong with Chapel Hill! I’m just more interested in film and screenwriting, which USC is perfect for.

@fayano - My LOR’s were part of the common app but they still show up as two separate items on USC Connect.

@hepburn95 - I know that I PROBABLY shouldn’t worry but it just seems odd to me that people are reporting their information as received after 2 or 3 weeks at the max and mine has been over a month and it still shows up as missing -_-. I think I just might call today and find out whats the deal.

@soCalLife310 within the “assign recommenders” tab on your common app, does it say that it downloaded the academic evaluation next to your recommender? or does it say “submitted” next to their name? I hope you understand what I’m saying.

I applied to USC as a transfer back in the 2012 transfer thread. Needless to say I was rejected back then. In my experience, USC begins to send out acceptance packages the last week of April and waits to send rejection letters until the last week of May. I can definitely say the hardest part of the whole experience is waiting. I do know that there honestly isn’t anything you can do once you send out your application. All you can do is write the best possible application that showcases the individual you are. To those who are worrying about their GPA, do your best not to panic about it. USC’s admittance trend was fairly arbitrary to an extent; there were people who got in with GPA’s lower than a 3.1. The best thing to do (really the only thing you can control) is focus on your current school work in case you are asked for a SGR.
On that note, I sent in my application on Jan.16 and USC has received all of my application documents including my writing supplement, and my art supplemental application. Good luck to all who are applying! I hope that all of you can do your best not to stress out while you’re waiting for a decision!

Did anyone else get an email about the USC Topping Scholarship?

@htransfer

Yeap got the email too, but I was well aware of the Norman Topping since I started applying for USC, I wrote my autobiography and only need one recommendation letter to finish my application.

Are you going to apply?

@hhtransfer I got it too

Did anyone have trouble when trying to register to start the application for the Topping scholarship? Whenever I try it says: “User input does not match displayed reCAPTCHA. Please try again.”

EDIT: Nevermind

@fayano - Yeah I understand what you’re saying. And it used to say submitted but within the last week or so it changed over to “Downloaded”.

Yup got the Topping email too. From what I’ve read up on it is that they primarily focus on awarding it to “local” USC students who have high financial need followed by First-Gen students and then others.

Is this scholarship for everyone? I didn’t get it :(

FWIW, my D received a transfer acceptance in late July of 2008, to start Jan 2009. I’d not get too upset if it takes some time to hear back in your transfer app. D applied after she had completed one semester (15 credits) of CC. She had hoped to start in Aug 2008, but was happy to start in Jan 2009 instead.
