Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

@lancaster29 my boyfriend is a viterbi applicant , soph transfer. he was accepted two days ago. came in the mail.

@ohwow1 USC sends out request’s for SGR throughout the month, you don’t actually send in your grades till you get them, Some cc’s don’t end till June, They will still request them, you send them when you can and you will get back a response…Cleary based on some people yes the request comes via YouSC, but you would send them through the mail…

@MakeMilDolMove - great thanks for clarification :slight_smile:

@arielirby did your boyfriend’s yousc portal or usc oasis accounts change at all?? Congratulations to your boyfriend!! Is he from a community college or 4 year??

@ForeverGymnast21 Have most sophomores gotten an acceptance already? I’m transferring with 35 units and 13 in progress, so I believe that still makes me a sophomore transfer

@MedicMatt If you don’t mind, can you tell me what the name of your USC counselor is??

@megamegss he just received the packet in the mail. his portal hasn’t been updated. we both go to 4yr uni in LA. I’m still waiting on my golden ticket

@megamegss, no idea honestly. It’s regional right? I’m in socal if that helps.
Also, myusc has been updated.

Hi everyone! Is a WGR and SGR a message from USC on the YouSC Document Library requesting an unofficial transcript?

@arielirby Congrats to your boyfriend. I’m a viterbi applicant as well, I’m surprised he received it this early. Do you mind if I ask what major he applied to within viterbi? I applied for Mechanical.

@FragrantGreenTea No, you should send official documents to USC once your grades have been posted by your college.

Hi everyone, I just finalized my internship plans for the summer and was wondering if I should email my admissions counselor about my plans. I don’t want to be a pest and bombard admissions with information they don’t want, but I think this internship would make me a stronger candidate for admission (it’s a full-time internship and reports to a VP). What do you guys think? Thanks

@samchoochiu you need 64units to be a junior, so I think u would be entering sophomore year! And yeah there has been quite a few sophomores accepted/SGR’d but it’s still pretty early

I’m on the TTP but does it actually make a difference if I will get accepted or not? I applied to Dornslife for Human Bio

@Tranzfur Great question I just finalized my internship yesterday too guess it couldn’t hurt to let our counselor know they seem to be getting other questions/info why not go for it?

So good to see this thread is making progress, I will post my stats in the other thread soon.

I have a question, though:

My friend received a SGR today and has well over 30 units, and dropped a course that he did not need (he has a W on his transcript):

1.) Why might they be asking him for spring grades?
2.) Will receiving a W hurt his chances? He recently changed his major.

Thanks, guys!

This is the only transfer thread I have seen where people freak out so much about Spring Grade Requests that you even have your own acronym for it!

They probably just want to verify you’re maintaining a level of quality especially if it’s relating to a vital class to your future major, or maybe a new subject for you that you haven’t been able to show capability of in the past.

@ForeverGymnast21 Oh boy… makes me nervous that so many sophmore applicants already heard back. I don’t take that as a good sign!
I’m a Dornsife applicant by the way, what about you?

@samchoochiu I applied to Marshall for Business Admin, don’t stress tho! It’s still April! And they are still reviewing applications! So don’t think it’s a bad sign!

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail!
Stats: I’m currently a sophomore at NC State with a 4.0 GPA and I applied for Political Science. Good luck to everyone else!
