*******OFFICIAL USC Class of 2019 Results/Discussion Thread**********

Can't be too early to start this, can it?? How is everyone feeling about admission this year? Fight on!

We don’t hear until April!!! I can’t wait 105 days!!!

@Gsdn21‌ I know!! Hopefully there’s scholarship consideration so we’ll know in January!!

Right…. What exactly does that mean though?

I was wondering, does anyone know what the most competitive school is within USC? I applied to Annenberg and it’s the dream!

@Gsdn21‌ They notify you in late Jan it you’re a finalist for a scholarship. Obviously if you’re a finalist, you’re in. @jjknowles‌ the most competitive school is by far the film school…their admit rate is consistently near 4%.

Omg! I also applied to Annenberg

is it true that the choice of major will affect acceptance :(?

I think it is true that majors have individual acceptance rates. At a Viterbi School of Engineering info session they said the USC acceptance rate is 18%, and the Viterbi rate is 18.5%.

@jjknowles‌

That would definitely be the School of Cinematic Arts!

I imagine Marshall School of Business is the second toughest but that’s just a well-educated guess. Dornsife is usually regarded as the easiest to get into.

At a USC info session I thought they said we’d find out in Dec if you are being considered for scholarships, no? I applied to Viterbi. This is going to be a tough few months of waiting!

Praying for a nice acceptance!

When do decisions come out?

Decisions don’t come out until April 1st. No EA/ED option, unfortunately. Hopefully it will be worth the wait!

Those being considered for high level scholarships (interview needed, I believe) should be notified late Jan/early Feb of their application status.

Those being considered for scholarships usually receive that letter at the end of January, or at least that’s when I got mine. That includes Trustee (full), Presidential (half), and Deans (quarter). Trustee/Presidential require interviews, while Deans does not.

What do they base the scholarship mainly on…SAT/ACT and gpa?

How does 3.79 unweighted gpa and 34 ACT comp look and doing all of Sr year courses in community college

There are other scholarship notifications in late January. The students invited to interview for the Mork and Stamps scholarships are sent letters.

This is an opinion. It is extremely difficult to be admitted to performance majors in Thornton School of Music. Some professors only select 2 or 3 students. Those placements are highly competitive as are spots for the BFA in the School of Dramatic Arts. Only a relatively small number will be accepted this year after auditioning for the Kaufman School of Dance.

My guess is the games major in Viterbi/SCA would be very competitive as would the two undergraduate majors in the Keck School of Medicine. Perhaps the most competitive of all, another guess, may be the Iovine Academy and the World Bachelor of Business programs.

Did any other School of Engineering applicants get a Viterbi Magazine in the mail? lol
