Perhaps you did not receive any scholarship letters because you are a NMSF and listed USC as your #1 choice? If you did so, you would not need an interview, and wouldn't have to attend the overnight Explore USC programs...

National Merit and National Achievement Finalist Presidential

Amount: Half tuition (approximately $16,000) Students cannot receive this award and a Presidential, Trustee, or Deans; these awards are mutually exclusive.

Number of Awards: Varies

Selection Criteria: Selected on the basis of PSAT performance. Entering freshmen are considered if they have been designated as National Merit or National Achievement Finalist and name USC as their first-choice college with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Application Process: Students will be contacted by the sponsoring agency.

Actually S qualified for NMSF but was dropped because as a homeschooler he did not have a "qualified teacher" to write a recommendation...a problem without a solution at this point. But S did choose USC as his designated school in his junior year.

Well, I'll see what USC has to say next week...

am i suppose to get info about scholarships? it looks like a lot of people got it already.. but i didn't. i applied by the scholarship deadline tho.... i'm kinda getting worried now.....[/ul]

CMIIW, but I think the Trustee through Deans' USC-administered scholarships are for US citizens only. It does not state that explicitly on the list at the USC site, but several of the other scholarships state clearly that only US citizens are eligible for them. Can anyone shed light on this?

I certainly never considered that, but USC is a very popular destination for int'l students. Plus it has major int'l influence; some of the members of the Board of Trustees are from other countries (like the CEO of Korean Air). If it wasn't mentioned, that part about US citizens only, then I don't think it applies.

yeah... i sort of remember reading somewhere that for trustees and presidential, every freshman is eligible (if you applied by the deadline) regardless of your citizenship. don't take my word for it tho! it might have been for other scholarships........:P

Misoobishi, thanx!! when did you hear about being a candidate?!? 'cause i got my acceptance letter about 3~4 days ago, but it didn't say anything about scholarships... and i'm kinda worried that maybe i didn't get one? do they send info about scholarship after the acceptance letter??

Well, I live in California, so I got my stuff pretty early. I got my acceptance letter last Saturday and my scholarship letter on Tuesday, I think. They send the acceptance letter before the scholarship letter, don't worry :) Though I'm sure someone posted on this forum a URL that lets you type in your PIN and it has information on your scholarship.

I actually checked that page before I got my letter :)

I asked this in the other thread, but it might be better to ask it here...

Under "My Admissions Checklist" on the USC Information Gateway/Discover USC thing (https://sig.usc.edu/login.cfm), does it indicate when your application has been reviewed? For those of you who have been accepted, does it say something other than "currently there are no records for you in the system?" The answer to this was sort of indicated in the Recent Decisions thread, but I just wanted to be sure.

Additionally, does everyone who submitted their application prior to December 10th have it reviewed early?

yeah~ i got the trustee.. i think im gonna go on feb 27~28.. but what happens if i get the scholarship and decide to not go to USC? is that still ok?

^ Congratulations! But... go to 23-24! That's the one I'm going to :) It'd be nice to have someone Korean to talk to.

Anyway, it's okay if you choose not to go. The scholarship isn't binding or anything.

Shirobot...that site doesn't even work for me, so I can't help you with that....but everyone who applied before December 10th is considered for scholarships, yes. But if someone applied early and is not eligible for scholarships, s/he will receive his/her decision letter in March or April (one of those two) with everyone else. Hope I helped.

You did, thanks. :D Knowing that they will look at my application soon is pretty comforting. I wish I would have done some EA, because right now I've only been accepted to Pitt, and that's pretty much my last choice. Waiting sucks. >_<

Basically, that site indicates (from what I take it to mean, and from what was said in the other thread) that my application hasn't been reviewed. If someone can confirm that it always lets you know when it is reviewed, then I'll know that I'm not already out of the running. >_>
