Official USC Decision Thread

USCfanatic when i called they told me the exact same thing. I hope its not a bad sign

wow heather and that other dude had stats similar to mine.. hope I get in, still have not heard from 'SC yet though.....

I called today asking if the architecture school had sent out any decisions and the lady got really offended that I asked the question, saying they had no liberty to answer such questions and that she had to give me the same answer as everyone else, "That I'll find out by April 1st".

Asarg - when were you notified?????? And were you applying for production, writing or CS?

I'm going to assume I was at least rejected from the film school for production...considering there are only 50 freshmen spots per major...and it seems a lot of people have already gotten in. ugh.

I got my acceptance today. I applied for Critical Studies, but in my acceptance packet it only listed "Cinema-Television" under both major and school, so I'm not sure what to make of that.

were you able to get into exploreusc

asarg, 3.7 is not 'low' actually, last year the average enrolling student had a 3.7--I think you're about on the mark. :) This forum misreprsents the average student by far, most kids on this forum do insanely well at school.

caligirl, if you were asking me, I can't log on to exploreusc yet, even though there's a pamphlet telling me how to do it in the acceptance packet. I guess it takes awhile to update.

murasaki: last year the average GPA of accepted students was 3.8, not 3.7. : )

thanks, asarg2001 :)

asarg: Congratulations! I remember talking to you about CNTV a while ago. It's great to see you got in; you definitely deserve it. :D

Also, I'm Critical Studies too, and USC just sent me an updated version of that paper with my major on it (the first said undecided). Mine just says "Cinema-Television" as well.

Congratulations to you as well. Have you heard anything directly from C-TV yet, or just that updated sheet that says "cinema-television"?

Decision: Accepted to Annenberg! for print journalism

Stats:
SAT: 2180 (700+ for all three)
SAT IIs: 740Math2C 790Chinese 680Lit 660Chem all downhill from there
GPA: 3.56UW over 4.0W
Rank: 30%+

Subjective:
Essays: Probably the reason I got in since I have had no experience with journalism.
Teacher Recs: Typical.
Counselor Rec: He really liked my essays so he put a little about how my writing is unique...so that might've helped.
Hook (if any): Eh.

Location/Person:
State or Country: LA County :D
School Type: Large public
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Female

Other Factors:
Extracurriculars: Lots of music -- piano, violin, orchestra. Internship, tutoring, blahblah.
Other thoughts: I really don't know how I got into Annenberg, especially with my inexperience. Isn't it supposed to be really tough?! Got lucky I guess!

Congratulations - never doubt your experience or whatever. USC is very competitive- they have faith in you- nothing is random or lucky (or at least very very little) :)

sarahjhansen: The average ADMITTED student had a 3.8. Remember, I said ENROLLING had a 3.7 average, there's a difference.

"sarahjhansen: The average ADMITTED student had a 3.8. Remember, I said ENROLLING had a 3.7 average, there's a difference."

lol. The 3.8/3.7 is uw right?

well... the ENROLLING part doesn't matter until you've been accepted. lol.

yes, guidez89, its uw.
